ASSISTANT INTERNAL AUDITOR – HEAD OFFICE (EAST LONDON) x2
PERMANENT CONTRACT
Grade 10 – Total Cost to Company
The incumbent will be responsible for assisting with conducting internal audits on the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls, by planning, executing and drafting Internal Audit Reports on Projects assigned within the ECDC. The role will entail assisting with advancing and implementing auditing measures and proposing appropriate risk mitigating initiatives for the entire Corporation; formulating the Internal Audit Plan and Programme development; and assisting with Subsidiary audit planning, execution and reporting; The Internal Auditing Assistant will provide direct support to the Internal Auditor in undertaking audits of all systems against applicable laws, legislation, regulations as well as company policies and procedures in accordance with the Unit's audit plans.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Key Performance Areas will encompass:
Implement the internal audit plan and programme
- Establish the audit objectives and prepare audit work programmes.
- Plan and conduct internal audit projects.
- Evaluate the design and operating effectiveness of controls and document all working papers.
- Document all working papers in line with internal audit methodology, policies and procedures.
- Prepare audit findings and make sure that they are concise, factually accurate and cover all significant issues
- Ensure all audit findings and planned actions are factually agreed by with management as they arise and increase the issuance of report.
- Provide recommendation to stakeholder management on how to address the control deficiencies identified.
- Conduct follow up audits.
- Prepare draft audit report for review by the internal auditor.
- Engage proactively with Internal Audit colleagues during assignments.
- Based on the knowledge of business areas, provide guidance to the other auditors and peers by sharing best practice
Risk management and governance
- Assess Strategic and Operational risk register in planning audit engagements.
- Evaluate effectiveness of risk management, determining the processes are in place.
- Research new or technical subjects when required to support audits (e.g. Companies Act, risk frameworks or models or best practices or IFRS etc.)
Compliance auditing
- Comply to internal audit regulations and policies
- Keep abreast of developments in Corporate Governance practices
- Work in accordance with all relevant regulatory frameworks to ensure confidentiality of information
- Comply with internal audit standard processes and procedures.
- Research, conceptualise and design workplace induction programme for learnership.
- Coordinate the induction programme
Reporting
- Report weaknesses within the internal control processes.
- Respond to queries/ questions, through the collection of factual information and/ or presenting and elaborating on findings to substantiate outcomes.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- National Diploma or BCom degree with Auditing/Accounting/ Internal auditing.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience of which to two years must be in an Internal Auditing environment.
