The organisation is calling for candidates with a track record of delivering large commercial events of over 1,000 people to apply for the position of Entertainment Manager. The Entertainment Manager will be responsible for creating Durban ICC-owned events, attracting new and repeat business to the Centre to achieve revenue growth.
The incumbent will report to the Sales and Business Executive or the nominated representative.

Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Management/Marketing & Sales/Events Management/Project Management
Minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in the related field

Identify, plan and implement new initiatives that will drive the business towards the hosting of Durban ICC own events to grow the business
Mapping out short to medium term plans for the department in conjunction with the Sales and Business Development Executive
Work closely with key stakeholders for major/ complex events i.e.: Metro, SAPS, and Metropolitan Fire & Emergency services
Evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls, governance and risk management of all business processes within the sub-unit
Makes customers and their needs a primary focus and ensure opportunities are identified to up-sell the services provided by the Durban ICC
Sustain productive customer relationships by participating in event planning meetings with internal and external clients in order to deliver excellent events for clients
Keeping abreast of trends and developments in the Conventions and Exhibitions industry
Manage and co-ordinate all activities associated with forthcoming events and Durban ICC owned events
Review bookings and analyse the Centre’s capacity and capabilities against client specific requirements and expectations with a view of partnership and collaboration.
Conduct and attend formal/ informal meetings (external client and internal departments) and presenting reports
Attend sales calls with clients and prospective clients for the purpose of generating sales
Allocate events and event related projects to team members for quotation, contract co-ordination & implementation process, and monitor the overall progress
Lead negotiations with clients, service providers and internal departments to meet the client’s requirements considering the clients budget.

Ensure management of strategic and operational plans of the Marketing and Communications unit are in place;
Maximise economic development and job creation by attracting and securing national and international events to benefits the city of Durban and South Africa at large;
Ensure that Durban ICC’s contribution is maximized towards the National Gross Domestic Product (GDP);
Maintain Durban ICC’s financial sustainability by implementing the Marketing and Communications Strategy to maximise revenue against set annual target;
Conduct research and evaluate current market trends and concepts associated with the conferencing industry;
Identify new opportunities for the development of partnerships and evaluate reports on current practices, and feasibility to sustain partnerships;
Develop and implement policies, business processes and standard operating procedures for the business unit;
Manage the department’s expenditure within the allocated budget;

Prepare quarterly and annual reports for the Board and other stakeholders pertaining to social, environmental, and governance activities;
Evaluate and authorize the appropriate use of ICC’s trademarks, brands, sub brands, logos and slogans on all printed and digital collateral;
Act as Durban ICC’s spokesperson to provide accurate and informative content via media interviews.

KEY PERFORMANCE / MAIN ACTIVITIES OF THIS ROLE
Coordinate and manage client event enquiries, ensuring accurate assessment of needs and availability;
Prepare quotations, contracts, and hire agreements using approved rate schedules and submit for necessary approvals;
Secure client bookings by confirming deposits and finalising event confirmations within deadlines;
Support the Sales team with the preparation of bids, quotations, and conversion of leads into secured business.
Coordinate all late booking event requirements including sourcing service providers and processing pro forma invoices.
Compile and distribute relevant event documentation (e.g. floor plans, operations reports, quotations) to clients and internal departments.
Attend internal coordination meetings and pre-event briefings to ensure clarity of client requirements and execution timelines.
Provide clients and suppliers with up-to-date information on ICC policies, ISO standards, and safety regulations.
Process and manage all sales and event orders in EBMS, including service orders, contingency fees, and client histories.
Upsell ICC services by aligning offerings with client budgets and expectations.
Maintain organised and audit-ready sales documentation, including digital records, correspondence, and booking files.
Prepare sales and statistical reports reflecting proposal status, feedback, and conversion rates.
Verify additional service charges for invoicing and oversee recovery of damages where applicable.
Ensure commission claims are processed timeously and forwarded to finance for payment.
Liaise with clients, service providers, and internal departments to ensure a seamless and professional client experience.
Provide administrative and coordination support for owned events and repurposing projects.
