DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS AND INFRASTRUCTURE
The Department of Public Works and Infrastructure is contributing to the Job creation pronounced by the Head of the State under Presidential Employment Stimulus Packages. The department invites suitably qualified citizens to apply for opportunities available across the nation. The opportunities will be localized following the District Development Model. Participants will gain varied technical skills and competencies. All the opportunities are for the duration of 05 months.
To qualify for opportunities applicants must be South African Citizens aged between 18 – 35 years, no work experience is required. Supervisor’s opportunities all South African Citizens over the age of 18 years with working experience as stated on each Programme are suitable to apply.

1. Water and Energy Efficiency (Green Economy) Programme: (135 Opportunities)
Remuneration: R6 083.70pm
Requirements: National Diploma, B-Tech, BSc Degree in any of the following disciplines: Water Care, Water Management, Electrical Engineering, Environmental Management, Analytical Chemistry, Water and Sanitation, Water Operations, Process Control
2. Water Treatment Plants Programme: (135 Opportunities)
Remuneration: R6 083.70 pm
Requirements: National Diploma, B-Tech, BSc Degree in any of the following disciplines: Water Care, Water Management, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Management or relevant qualification.
3. Water Treatment Plants Programme - Supervisors (30 Opportunities)
Remuneration: R18,000pm
Requirements: National Diploma, B-Tech, BSc Degree in any of the following disciplines: Water Care, Water Management, Chemical Engineering, and Environmental Management. 2-3 years relevant working experience. Minimum Class IV process controller certificate. Proven experience in waste water process control and management. Experienced in supervision / management of people, plant and processes. Computer literacy (Microsoft Office) and very good reporting skills. Mechanical and analytical aptitude. Valid driver’s licenses. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Punctuality and attention to detail.
Duties: Coordinate, control and monitor all operational activities of Waste Water Treatment Plant. Collecting waste water samples as per prescribed monitoring program for chemical and biological analysis. Undertake preventative maintenance on plant equipment and report complex repair works. Adhere to safety procedures and guidelines (Occupational Health and Safety Act). Attend to procedural administrative requirements.
4. Welisizwe Rural Bridges Programme: (605 Opportunities)
Remuneration: R5 066 per month for people in a possession of N6 Certificates and for people who are in possession of National N Diploma, National Diploma, B-Tech and Bsc Degree will be R6 083.70pm
Requirement’s: National Diploma, National N Diploma, B-Tech, BSc Degree in any of the following disciplines: Mechanical Engineering, Building Science, Construction Project Management, Construction Management, Civil Engineering.

5. Welisizwe Rural Bridges Programme - Professionals (07 Opportunities)
Remuneration: R86,902pm
Requirements: Qualifications B Eng./ BSC (Eng.) in Civil / Structural Engineering 10 years work experience in engineering experience required as a registered professional within the specified discipline, Valid driver’s License. Active registration with the relevant statutory councils a Professional.
Duties: Mentorship and Coaching and execute all engineering work assigned.

Duties: Assist with call log management, supervise trainees on techniques used in the management of defects, mentor and coach trainees, manage trainees work attendance, ensure compliance to OHS and other statutory requirements.

Remuneration: R6 083.70pm
Requirements: Built Environment degree (B Eng./ BSC (Eng.) or relevant qualification in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Quantity Surveying & Architecture.
9. Facilities Management Programme - Condition Assessments - Supervisors (15 Opportunities)
Remuneration: R18 000 per month
Requirements: Built Environment degree, National Diploma in Built Environment or relevant qualification (Building Science, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Architecture), 5 years relevant work experience. Valid driver’s License.
Duties: Facilities Conditions Assessment (FCA) of priority facilities and critical components; term contracts specification revising and drafting and contract management where required; participate in Total Facilities Management roll-out; site investigation on building infrastructure services; assist with Enterprise Resource Planning maintenance module requirements for Archibus implementation.
