ALTERNATE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR – WORLD BANK
Washington DC
TERM: Two-years (2020-2022)
The incumbent will be required:
To represent the interests of South Africa at the Board of Executive Directors of the World Bank.
Qualifications and experience requirements:
Cognate work experience at a very senior level in government or government institution and/or Multilateral Development Bank or other International Financial Institutions for a period of not less than 15 years.
Master’s degree in Economics, Business Administration, Finance or Banking or any other related qualification as recognised by SAQA.
Some key outputs include:
Approving policies and loans to client countries and ensure the Board’s role in the governance and oversight of agencies of the World Bank Group
Acting for the Executive Director with full power when the Executive Director is not present
Devoting all the time and attention to the business of the Bank
Continuously be available at the principal office of the Bank
Fulfilling a dual function, as an official of the Bank and as a representative of the member country or countries that appointed the Alternate Executive Director
Responsible for the conduct of the general operations of the Bank
Presenting to the Board of Governors at the Bank’s Annual Meeting, an audit of accounts, an administrative budget, and an annual report on the operations and policies of the Bank, as well as any other matters that, in their judgment, require submission to the Board of Governors
Informing the country or countries represented by the Alternate Executive Director of the issues before the Board of Executive Directors
Offer advice to relevant constituencies on the full range of matters involving the Bank including the Bank’s policies and procedures.
The all-inclusive remuneration package, including associated benefits will be discussed with the successful candidate.
