DEPARTMENT OF MINERAL RESOURCES SCAMS WARNINGS
WARNING AGAINST FRAUDULENT REQUESTS FOR PROCUREMENT OF GOODS ON BEHALF OF THE DEPARTMENT OF MINERAL RESOURCES
The Department of Mineral Resources would like to warn members of the public against an organised syndicate (s) scamming unsuspecting members of the public and claiming to act on behalf of the Department.
One of the ways in which the syndicate operates is by requesting quotations for various goods and services from potential service providers, locally and abroad. Once the service provider has delivered the goods, they are then advised by the syndicate to invoice the Department directly for goods delivered.
The Department condemns such illegal activities and encourages service providers to confirm the legitimacy of purchase orders with the Department’s supply chain unit, prior to processing and delivery of goods.
