APPLICATIONS : Applications must be -
sent to the correct address specified at the bottom of the Circular, on or before the closing date;
submitted on the New Application for Employment Form (Z.83), obtainable at www.gov.za;
accompanied by a comprehensive CV, citing the start and end date (dd/mm/yr) of each employment period to be considered, including the details of at least two contactable employment references (as recent as possible);
accompanied by a copy of the Applicant’s ID, valid driver’s license where applicable and the highest relevant educational qualifications. Applicants who possess (a) foreign qualification(s), must also submit the evaluated results of such qualifications, as received from the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA); and
SELECTION:
Shortlisted Candidates for posts on Salary Level 9 and above will be subjected to technical test(s) (which test Candidates’ demonstrated professional and technical competency against the job requirements and duties).
All Candidates on Salary Level 11 and above will furthermore undergo a competency assessment, (which tests the Candidates’ demonstrated proficiency in the professional dimensions attached to the level of the post).
For lower level posts, preference may be given to locally based candidates on grounds of affordability.
Employment suitability checks (credit, criminal, citizenship, employment references and qualification verifications)
All Candidates applying for SMS posts (Salary Level 13 and above), will be required to complete the online “Pre-entry Certificate to Senior Management Services” course. The course is available at the National School of Government (NSG), under the name “Certificate for entry into the SMS”. Candidates wishing to be considered for appointment, are encouraged to enrol for this course immediately.
APPOINTMENT: Appointed persons will be required to -
enter into an employment contract;
serve a prescribed probation period; and
successfully undergo an appropriate security clearance process within a prescribed timeframe.
ADJUDICATOR, (16 POSITIONS)
REF NO: HRMC 21/22/1
SALARY LEVEL : A basic salary of R321 543 to R378 765 per annum (Level 8). In addition, a range of benefits are offered.
CENTRE : Head Office, Pretoria, Branch: Immigration Services, Sub-Directorate: Large Accounts Unit.
REQUIREMENTS : • A 3 year tertiary qualification in Law or Public Management and Administration or Operations Management or related qualification at NQF level 6 as recognized by SAQA • 2-3 years’ experience in an Immigration environment • Knowledge of the Constitution of South Africa • Sound knowledge of the Immigration Act No 13 of 2002 and the Immigration Regulations • Knowledge of the Refugees Act and Refugee Regulations • Knowledge of the Public Service Regulatory Framework • Understanding of other Departmental legislations and prescripts • Computer literacy • Honesty and integrity • Planning and organising • Report writing skills, good interpersonal skills and strong analytical skills • Attention to detail • Policy interpretation and implementation • Diplomacy • A valid drivers’ license and willingness to travel.
DUTIES : The successful candidate will be responsible for, amongst others, the following specific tasks:
• To assess, approve, reject or recommend applications for temporary residence visas and permanent residence permits within the set turn-around times • Receive and assess applications in line with legislation and verify applicant’s status on MCS, NPR , VAS, SQL, Track and trace and other departmental risk engines and systems • Scrutinise supporting documents and refer suspicious documents to issuing authorities for verification • To impose individual terms and conditions on approved or rejected applications • Quality check the decision of the adjudicated application • Ensure that the correct particulars of the applicant are on the approved outcome or rejection letter • Ensure that conditions on the visa label, permanent residence permit or reasons on the letter of rejection are in line with the Immigration Act and Regulations • Quality check printed work and sign the finalised visa, permit outcome or rejection letter as per the delegations • To provide statistical information on outcomes • Submit statistics of the work finalised on a printed activity sheet to the Supervisor within the set turn-around times • Safeguard visa labels, permanent residence permits and other face value documents allocated to the official • Maintain proper record of all visas, permits and other face value documents allocated by Supervisor, this includes used, damaged, unused and expired face value documents • Keep in the lockable cabinets all documents that were not utilized or cancelled, including those ready for dispatch • Report all loss or theft of face value documents to Supervisor and Counter Corruption in writing within 8 hours of discovery • Monitor performance against service standards • Signing and submission of all HR related documents within set-turnaround times • Monitoring, training and coaching of subordinates.
