INVITATION FOR APPLICATION FOR SUITABLE QUALIFIED PROFESSIONALS TO SERVE ON THE AUDIT AND RISK COMMITTEE OF COMMISSION FOR THE PROMOTION AND PROTECTION OF THE RIGHTS OF CULTURAL, RELIGIOUS AND LINGUISTIC COMMUNITIES (CRL RIGHTS COMMISSION
The Commission for the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Cultural, Religious and Linguistic Communities (CRL Rights Commission), a Chapter 9 Institution established in terms of Section 181 (1)(c) and 184 of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, Act No. 19 of 2002, invites applications/nominations from qualified and interested individuals for appointment to serve as members of its Audit and Risk Committee.
Role of the Audit and Risk Committee
The Audit and Risk Committee is an independent advisory body that provides oversight over financial reporting, internal controls, risk management, compliance, performance information, and governance processes of the CRL Rights Commission, in line with the requirements of the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), Treasury Regulations and other relevant best practices.
Requirements
Applicants must demonstrate qualification, knowledge, skills, experiences, and competencies in one or more of the following areas:
- Auditing (internal and external).
- Financial Accounting and related fields.
- Financial Management and Reporting.
- Risk Management and Corporate Governance.
- Legal and compliance.
- Performance Management, Monitoring, and Evaluation.
- Governance and Business Management.
- ICT governance and cybersecurity.
Additional skills and competencies required:
- A minimum of 10 years expertise and experience in the fields of Finance and related fields
- PFMA and National Treasury Regulations
- Public Sector Audit Frameworks and supply chain management (SCM) prescripts
- A relevant professional qualification (CA(SA), CIA, CISA, LLB, or equivalent) will be an advantage. A postgraduate in any of the following will be an added advantage: Accounting, Financial Management, Internal Audit and External Audit Management
- Prior service on an Audit and Risk Committee (preferably in the public sector) will be a strong recommendation.
- An understanding of the Constitutional mandate of the CRL Rights Commission and Chapter 9 institutions environment.
- Integrity, independence, and commitment to the principles of accountability and good governance.
- An applicant should be a South Africa citizen.
Term of Appointment
Members will be appointed for a term of three (3) years, subject to renewal at the discretion of the Commission for a period not exceeding two terms.
Remuneration
Members will be remunerated in accordance with the National Treasury guidelines and directives applicable to members serving on Audit and Risk Committees in public institutions.
