COMMUNITY SCHEMES OMBUD SERVICE (CSOS)
 
The Community Schemes Ombud Service Act (Act 9 of 2011) was promulgated on 11 June 2011 and provides for the establishment of the Community Schemes Ombud Service (“CSOS”) as a public entity. The CSOS has been classified as a Schedule 3A Public Entity in terms of the Public Finance Management Act (Act No.1 of 1999) (PFMA).

CONCILIATOR: KZN 
(Ref. CSOS/C/KZN/07/23) 
This position reports to the Senior Manager: Dispute Resolution and offers a total cost to the company package of R801 087.00 per annum. 
 
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in law / NQF 7. 
• At least 3 – 5 years of experience in the dispute resolution environment. 
• Understanding of the case management process. 
• Knowledge in the reporting and processing of cases in the dispute resolution environment. 
• Knowledge of current professional standards and of the Community Schemes environment. 
• Knowledge of the COSOS Act and other legislation. 
• Understanding of systems and information systems. 
• MS Office skills. 
• Analytical skills. 
• Innovative skills. 
• Report writing. 
 
Key Performance Areas 
• Preparing and issuing Notices of Set down for all Conciliation hearings, inviting parties to a formal conciliation hearing. 
• Facilitating the Conciliation sessions and assisting parties to find a resolution. 
• Drafting Settlement Agreements and ensuring that they are signed by both parties. 
• Prepare and issue Notices of Non-Resolution and referral to adjudication on all disputes that are not resolved at conciliation. 
• Conduct informal telephone conciliations on simple quick resolution matters. 
• Dispose of disputes in an efficient and effective cost-effective manner. 
• Assess Disputes 
• Excellent case management and closure of all matters within the prescribed time limit. 
• Ensuring that all case management documents are properly filed and comply to the generally accepted standards (SOP). 
• Preparing detailed conciliation report. 
• Creating awareness on walk-in applicants and/or telephonic applicants on an ad hoc basis.

LEGAL ADMINISTRATOR 

(Ref. CSOS/LA/HO/07/23) 
This position reports to the Senior Manager: Legal Services and offers a total cost to the company package of R427 164.00 per annum. 
 
Requirements
• Grade 12/Matric. 
• National Diploma in Paralegal or Legal Secretarial Diploma. 
• An undergraduate legal qualification will be an added advantage. 
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a similar role either in a Law firm or a Legal Division of a large organization. 
• Experience and knowledge in power point, preparing presentations and business reports. 
• Basic knowledge of the law and legal procedures. 
 
Key Performance Areas 
• Support and assist the Legal Service Section with day-to-day administrative tasks. 
• Collate Reports. 
• Facilitate payment of invoices and create Purchase Requisitions for the Section.
• Attend meetings and produce minutes. 
• Draft internal memorandums and other legal documents. 
• Maintain and update functional contracts, litigation, and other register. 
• Facilitation the execution of contracts and business documents by the key officials. 
• Co-ordinate legal workshops and submission of documents for signatures. 
• Maintain a safe and reliable filling system. 
• Produce copies of Contracts and Litigation records within 2 days of request. 
• Follow up on payments, outstanding contracts, documents and instructions. 
• Assist with the preparations of the monthly and quarterly progress reports. 
• Support the Section with the assessment and resolution of contractual and other legal disputes. 
• Liaise with external stakeholders and clients. 
• General Office Management (order stationery and supplies, venue bookings and etc.). 
• Oversee travel and accommodation arrangement for the Legal Services Department.
• Provide general secretarial function to the Senior Manager Legal Services.
