COMMUNITY SCHEMES OMBUD SERVICE (CSOS)
The Community Schemes Ombud Service Act (Act 9 of 2011) was promulgated on 11 June 2011 and provides for the establishment of the Community Schemes Ombud Service (“CSOS”) as a public entity. The CSOS has been classified as a Schedule 3A Public Entity in terms of the Public Finance Management Act (Act No.1 of 1999) (PFMA).
ADJUDICATOR
KZN Regional Office (Ref. CSOS/ADKZN/10/2022)
Reporting to the Regional Ombud: KZN
Requirements:
• BProc /LLB/Bachelor’s degree in Law - NQF7.
• Admitted as an Attorney/Arbitrator.
• Related/equivalent/added advantage or qualification for this position: Advocate.
• A total 5 years working experience as an Adjudicator/arbitrator/attorney/advocate
• 5 years participation in administrative tribunals and or related processes including, but not limited to, litigation, mediation, conciliation.
• Thorough knowledge of the CSOS Act as well as Sectional Titles Management Act, Companies Act, Housing Scheme for Retired Persons Act South Africa, Co-operatives Act, Promotion of Administrative Justice Act.

Key Performance Areas:
• Working with team colleagues and the senior team to improve the quality of the CSOS adjudication orders.
• Excellent case management and closure of all matters within the prescribed time limit.
• Preside over or adjudicate on disputes that are referred to adjudication in a fair, equitable and transparent manner.
• Ensure that the adjudication order is delivered to both parties and enforced.
• Issue Adjudication orders with prescribed timeframes and conduct quality assurance of adjudication orders.
• Prepare and issue Notices of Set down for all Adjudication hearings inviting parties to a formal hearing and reside over the adjudication sessions and hear oral evidence.
• Consider all evidence (oral and/or written submissions as applied in a civil court.
• Conduct investigations, inspections, enter or inspect asset, record or another document.
• Evaluate all evidence, legal research and applicable case law and hand down an adjudication order, which is binding on the parties to the dispute.
• Provide appropriate reports.
