The Commission for Gender Equality (CGE) is an Independent and statutory body created in terms of the SA Constitution. The CGE is committed to a society free from gender oppression and all forms of inequality. Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the following position.
LEGAL RESEARCHER
Deputy Director Level:11 salary package: R 657 558p.a. (All-inclusive package)
Centre: Head office – Johannesburg
Requirements: B.Proc or LLB degree*Admitted as an attorney of the high court*Three years post admission experience, knowledge of the constitution of the republic of south Africa, knowledge of the operation of the Equality Courts.*Experience in Human Rights law litigation*Extensive research experience in gender equality will be an added advantage.

Competencies required: Legal research experience, analytical skills & sound knowledge of gender related issues and mandate of CGE. Knowledge and experience in constitutional court process. Knowledge and experience in mediation and conciliation processes. Excellent writing, verbal, communication and computer skills. Ability to work independently in complains processing. Well-developed interpersonal skills. Knowledge of at least one African Language.
Duties: To conduct research and develop position papers*Investigate gender related complaints reported to the CGE*Provide legal advise to the public*Brief attorneys or counsel on behalf of CGE for the purposes of litigation*Preparing reports to the parliament or international body as required in terms of the instruments*Appearing on behalf of the complainants in the Equality Courts.
