Graphic Designer and Photographer: Communications Sub-Unit - National Office (Post level: 07)
The Business Research Intelligence & Communications Unit within the Governance and Strategy Department has a vacancy of a Graphic Designer and Photographer.
Purpose
The Business Research Intelligence & Communications Unit within the Governance and Strategy (G&S) Department has a vacancy of a Graphics Designer & Photographer, which will report to the Team leader: Communications. As a Graphics Designer & Photographer in this sub-unit, your role will entail the following;
- Fulfilling the photography, graphic design and archiving requirements of all CCMA materials such as flyers, posters, brochures, Annual Performance Plans and Annual Reports, etc.
- Being responsible for the creative branding of the CCMA and ensuring that this is achieved in a uniform manner by all CCMA offices/departments across all platforms; be it in print form and/or digital media.
Key Performance Areas:-
• Oversee the branding aspects of all internally communicated materials
• Oversee the branding aspects of all externally communicated materials

• Governance-related Reporting
Operationally this will entail:
• Adheres to the organisation’s brand identity and guidelines.
• Does the necessary research on the concept desired by the organisation
• Illustrates concept by designing rough layout of art and copy regarding arrangement, size, type size and style, and related aesthetic concepts.
• Obtains approval of concept by submitting rough layout for approval.
• Prepares finished copy and art by operating typesetting, printing, and similar equipment;
• Prepares final layout by marking and pasting up finished copy and art.
• Ensures the continuous operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer’s instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; and evaluating new equipment.
• Ensures the continuous revision of governance documents aligned with their function and facilitates their workshopping across all CCMA offices
• Completes all organisational projects by coordinating with outside agencies, art services, printers, etc.
• Maintains technical knowledge by attending design workshops; reviewing professional publications; and participating in professional societies.
• Oversee the CCMA’s branding footprint across all forms of media (print, electronic, etc.)
• Conducting benchmark visits with the manager in order to keep abreast of any changes in the field of Communications
• Attending CCMA & Director events/conferences/regional engagements and capturing the proceedings accordingly
• Provide staff and user awareness regarding any form of strategic information affecting the CCMA’s operations.
• Perform any other responsibilities bestowed upon you within the realms of your scope of duty as directed by the organisation’s strategic direction.
Key Requirements
• A National Diploma/Degree in Graphic Art/Design or any related creative field.
• Formal training/certification in Photography, the use of Adobe’s Creative suite of programs, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign or similar
• Other software tools such Dreamweaver, HTML, CorelDraw or AutoCAD.
• Minimum of three (3) years practical and technical experience
• Understanding of the CCMA’s mandate & processes as a Schedule 3A entity.
