External Communications Officer - National Office (Post level: 07)
 
The Business Research and Intelligence and Communications Unit within the Governance & Strategy Department has a vacancy of External Communications.
 
 
Purpose:
- Facilitating timeous, effective, accurate and relevant external communication across the relevant platforms in support of the CCMA’s mandate driven towards ensuring efficient and effective service delivery, as supported by its organisational strategy.
- The dissemination of the CCMA’s communicable material to all external communication platforms, the drafting of CCMA media statements/releases, coordinating media liaisons and the overall management of the CCMA’s external communications portfolio.
Safeguarding the CCMA’s brand across all its provincial offices as well as the greater labour market whilst expanding and enhancing its footprint across reputable as well as credible platforms
 
Key Performance Areas:-
• Oversee all external communications aspects (CCMA Promotional material, CCMA Website, Intranet, publications, Mobile Applications
• Media Relations Management
• Marketing the CCMA brand across external platforms/engagements
• Performing a support function to the Internal Communications function as and when required
• Database/Network Management
• Governance-related Reporting
 
Operationally this will entail:
• Contribution to the development of the sub-unit’s Operational plans
• Attending stakeholder engagements in your professional field for best practice purposes
• Compile media statements and submit through the appropriate approval lines before final release externally
• Distribute approved media statements to different communication channels
• Compile press releases on CCMA achievements and developments and once approval has been received, alert the media
• Respond to media queries and requests for information in a timely manner
• Co-ordinate media interviews for the CCMA
• Correct media misrepresentation of the CCMA, through letters to the appropriate parties as approved by the relevant authorities
• Source publicity channels for CCMA information dissemination in conjunction with other units based on their needs
• Conducting benchmark visits in order to keep abreast of any changes in the field of Communications
• Development of relevant SOPS, Procedure manuals, Policies, etc
• Contributing to and compiling internal publications and facilitating the compilation of same in external strategic platforms
• Monitor labour market to proactively advise the manager on any prominent issues arising
• Administering & facilitating regional awareness campaigns.
• Perform any other responsibilities bestowed upon you within the realms of your scope of duty as directed by the organisation’s strategic direction.

 
Key Requirements:
• Appropriate Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations,
• Minimum of three (3) years practical and technical experience
• Proven training in the following fields; Communications, Marketing, Public Relations and/or Project Management
• Understanding of the CCMA’s mandate & processes as a Schedule 3A entity
• Proven comprehension of labour market dynamics
• Advanced presentation and communication skills.
• Proven business writing skills demonstrated by delivery of high-quality publications
 
Technical Competencies: -
• Computer Literacy
• Expert knowledge and experience in formulating Communication Management strategies to cascade to Departments and Regions
• Expert knowledge and experience in formulating Organisational Marketing Strategies
• Experience in Media Liaison
• Advanced knowledge of principles of project management
• Advanced Strategic planning
• Knowledge of the CCMA’s processes and the relevant regulations (LRA Act, PFMA Act, etc)
