City Power Johannesburg SOC Limited is a municipal entity wholly owned by the City of Johannesburg. City Power commenced operations on 01 January 2001 and is responsible for electricity distribution within its area of supply in the City of Johannesburg. The Company provides services to a mix of approximately 3.2 million people.
APPLICATIONS ARE INVITED FOR THE FOLLOWING POSITION:
Designation - Manager Direct Current Systems
Group - Engineering Operations
Department - Secondary Plant
Reporting to - General Manager – Secondary Plant
Purpose
To manage and control the DC System maintenance execution on high and medium voltage network to ensure stability of the DC Systems within the City Power Network.
Key responsibilities
Monitor and ensure adherence to the execution of DC Systems maintenance plans
Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements and presentations
Analyse results and resolve issues on problem areas
Manage the quality assurance and adherence to processes for the commissioning of the DC Systems Network
Ensure DC System availability and reliability for continuous electrical network performance
Effectively influence and provide information required for DC Systems upgrade or refurbishments
Plan, organise lead and control resources responsible for unplanned outages and all DC Systems emergencies
Provide root cause analysis reports and develop preventative strategies
Develop and manage contingency plans for potential risks arising on DC Systems
Perform any other tasks which the business may deem necessary

• The ability to analyse, design and implement information and make correct inferences or draw accurate conclusions by developing theoretical models or approaches in field of expertise (e.g., engineering models, computational models, growth and yield models, and structural models.
• Knowledge of Secondary Plant’s Direct Current systems

Minimum qualifications
Bachelor's degree/ B-tech or equivalent in Electrical Engineering
Related Minimum Experience
Work Experience:
5 years Secondary Plant experience of which 3 must be at supervisory level
