1. Department: Private Office of the Executive Mayor 
Branch: Office of the MMC’s 
Designation: Director: Executive Support 
Annual Total Rem Package: R1 103 301.83 pa (all-inclusive cost to company) 
 
Appointment Requirements: 
• Bachelor’s degree/NQF level 7 in Business Administration, Public Administration, Business Management or 
• Suitably qualified candidates as defined by Section 20(3) of the EE Act will be considered; 
• 10 years’ management experience of which at least 3 years are at middle management level in a large enterprise or government institution; 
• Proven track record of providing a strategic support service to an executive at a similar level; 
• Experience in supervising multiple, diverse service functions simultaneously with strong supervisory and team leadership skills;
 • Ability to work with various levels of personnel in a fast-paced environment; 
• Experience in compiling and managing budgets; 
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills; 
• Previous experience in National/Provincial/Local government policy, legislation and protocols; and 
• Business administration, public administration or a closely related field and fiscal management experience involving payroll, purchasing, budgeting and supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 
 
Primary Function: Direct and manage the effective functioning of the support function to the Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) and providing a high level of strategic advice and counsel to the MMC by coordinating the implementation of Executive Policy; developing and managing the implementation of communications strategy. Managing key personnel in order to ensure the advancement of the MMC’s political programmes and strategy. 
 
Key Performance Areas: Manage and provide strategic (political) policy support and advice to the MMC. Enable and manage the implementation of the Executive Mayor’s Communication Strategy i.e. the MMC’s functions. Direct and control the outcomes associated with utilization, productivity and performance of personnel within the MMC support function. Plan, monitor and control function’s annual operating and capital budget so that spending is in line with the Municipal requirements and/or MFMA. Manage, direct and drive processes and policy that supports the effective and efficient operation of key functional areas in the support function of the MMC. Manage and lead work of staff in the Office of the MMC in their execution of the government blueprint, as determined by the MMC. Direct and manage the execution of projects and assignments as determined by the MMC.

Designation: Senior Professional Officer: Research and Strategic Advisory 
Salary Range: R920 693.58 pa (all-inclusive cost to company) 
 
Appointment Requirements: 
• Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science, Public Administration /Economics/ Law or related field is required (NQF level 7). 
• Suitably qualified candidates as defined by Section 20(3) of the EE Act will be considered; 
• 7 - 8 years’ experience in the discipline, of which 4 years’ experience in a Professional Officer. 
• Knowledge of City’s Strategy IDP, prescribed Methodologies legislative, Policy and Regulatory Frameworks 
• In depth knowledge of functions principle, techniques & tools and how they can be practically applied. 
• Knowledge on Corporate Governance. 
• Knowledge principle and practices of municipal organization, administration and personnel management. 
 
Primary Function: Provide Research and Strategic Advisory Services to enable the directorate render effective advisory services to the Office of the Executive Mayor and the Mayoral Committees for the of the political mandate. 
 
Key Performance Areas: Contribute to the development of the directorates functional strategic planning. Execute project planning process in contributions to the directorates business planning process. Execute process optimization and efficacy procedures. Provide sound strategic advisory services. Render research services. Ensure effective control of projects financial resources. Ensure effective Management and control of allocated assets. Implement good governance and effective risk management systems. Manage specific administrative and reporting requirements associated with research finding and projects deliverable.

• Experience in Public Administration will be an added advantage. 
• A valid driver’s license. 
 
Primary Function: To provide direction, and develop a communication, stakeholder and community engagement strategy for the Office of the MMC. To proactively manage and implement strategies, systems and procedures that will enable the Office of the MMC to effectively communicate its programmes and approaches to engage the broad and diverse communities of the City of Johannesburg, in order to ensure successful political and administrative mandates.
