​ENROLLED NURSING ASSISTANT 

Department: Health 
Branch: District Health Systems 
Designation: Enrolled Nursing Assistant 
Remuneration: R15 872.78 pm (basic salary, excluding benefits) 
Location: Region B, C, F, & G 
 
Minimum Requirements: 
  • Grade 12/NQF level 4 plus Enrolled Nursing Assistant Certificate; 
  • 1-year post training as an Enrolled Nursing Assistant; 
  • SANC registration. 
 
Primary Function:
Apply procedural nursing sequences in the management of comprehensive primary health care services and participates in community focused awareness initiatives, providing support, information distribution and demonstrations to ensure that the health objectives in terms of all relevant national policies and standard guidelines are met. 
 
Key Performance Areas: 
  • Communicate with patients at the clinics and accessing case files and records / or referring emergency client/Situations to professional personnel. 
  • Provide basic total nursing care to clients, patients and families within the ambit of her /his prescribed scope of practice an ethical and legal framework. 
  • Contribute to effective data recording and control. 
  • Participate in the delivery of awareness and educational programmes on clinical approaches to safe and healthy living to the community. 
  • Provide support to professional staff / clinician’s respect of specific application associated with the provision of treatment for communicable and non-communicable diseases; 
  • Implement health promotion activities for specific programmes e.g. immunization, chronic diseases, oral health etc.; 
  • Conduct specific administrative processes and procedures; 
 
Leading Competencies: 
  • Computer Literacy (Microsoft Word and Excel); 
  • Good communication skills 
  • Coordinating skills 
  • Time Management. 
 
Core Competencies: 
  • Must form part of multidisciplinary team.

​ENROLLED NURSE

Minimum Requirements: 
  • Grade 12/NQF level 4; 
  • Certificate of Enrolled Nursing Course equivalent to Higher National Certificate (HNC) NQF level 5; 
  • Current Registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as Staff under Regulations (R2175); 
  • 2 years’ experience post enrolment as a staff Nurse with the South African Nursing Council; 
  • 1 year or more experience in similar (PHC) environment. 
 
Primary Function:
Provide humane, scientific, safe, and comprehensive quality, nursing care to individual, families and communities within the legal bond and ethical code of conduct. Functions independently within the prescribed scope of practice to provide preventive, promotive, curative and developmental health care to individuals and groups and internal referral for any condition outside her scope of practice. Maintain professionalism, Promote Health, prevent illness. 
 
Key Performance Areas: 
  • Assess, diagnose and provides preventative, curative, promotive, rehabilitative and referral health care service to clients within the boundaries of defined scope of practice, on various clinical specialties (communicable and non- communicable diseases, childhood illness, uncomplicated pre and post-natal care, etc.; 
  • Provide support to professional staff / clinician’s respect of specific application associated with the provision of treatment for communicable and non-communicable diseases; 
  • Participate and adhere to the prescripts of GHMIS policy; 
  • Participate in the delivery of awareness and educational programs on clinical approaches to safe and health living to community; 
  • Perform specific administrative sequences associated with updating of clinical records and registers; 
  • Customer focused service delivery internal and external. 
 
Leading Competencies: 
  • Computer Literacy (Microsoft Word and Excel); 
  • Good communication skills; 
  • Observation;
  • Interviewing skills; 
  • Interpersonal and counselling skills. 
 
Core Competencies: 
  • Knowledge of the City’s process, best [practices and policies and procedures on Health issues; 
  • Basic mathematical literacy for Dug dosage calculation; 
  • Basic knowledge of Human Anatomy and Physiology for Wounds Management, Suturing/ Removal of Sutures and Application/ Removal of Plaster of Paris (POP); 
  • Basic Applied Pharmacology and Microbiology for drug administration, Infection control and understanding of disease causality and prevention;
