UNIT HEAD: (PROJECT MANAGER): SUBSTANCE ABUSE

Remuneration: R71 274.46 pm (basic salary excluding benefits)
Location: 118 Jorissen Street, Traduna Building, Braamfontein
Minimum Requirements:
• Grade 12 NQF level 4 plus Degree in Humanities or Medicine;
• Registered with recognized and relevant regulatory councils/bodies;
• Certificate in Substance Abuse will be an added advantage;
• 10 years’ practical experience in the substance abuse field;
• Experience with transformation and diversity management skills;
• Leadership and experience in community development and public speaking.
Primary Function:
Direct and provide expertise in the field of substance abuse by leading, planning and managing key performance and impact driven indicators associated with the provision of an integrated substance abuse response to local communities, stakeholders, civil society partners through the development of a multidisciplinary approach aimed at long term, sustainable programs in the city, coordination and implementation of business planning processes, performance management, monitoring and evaluation mechanisms with regard to the development and implementation of policies and strategies for the related programs. Liaising with internal and external stakeholders on support and aid to ensure the program remains viable and sustainable.
Key Performance Areas:
• To lead and manage resources towards the development of a new directorate within the department of Social Development;
• Lead, direct and control the strategy that permits administration and related functions which supports the service delivery components of the Unit;
• Direct, plan, develop, gain approval for, compile, monitor and control the units annual and long-term budget so that expenditure is in line with the city requirements and or municipal financial management act, supply chain management;
• Direct, lead and control staff within the unit in order to achieve the objectives set by defining /adjusting the role boundaries, workflow processes and job design / job evaluation /job rotation against laid down service delivery requirements;
• Establish, direct, lead, organize and control subsatance abuse activities and the production of quality outcomes across a very complex, diverse, pressurized and knowledge driven environment within legislative framework;
• Establish, direct, lead, organize and control research in the field of Substance Abuse in order to determine trends and best-practice models;
• Lead, direct and manage stakeholders for effective development of programmes and management thereof;

SOCIAL AUXILIARY WORKER

Minimum Requirements:
• Grade 12 plus / NQF level 4 plus Social Worker Auxiliary Certificate, recognized by Health and Welfare SETA (HWSETA) and/or South African Council for Social Service Professions;
• 1 - 3 years’ experience in Social Auxiliary Work.
Primary Function:
Provide ancillary services and perform tasks associated with frontline services, administrative support, community education, and empowerment of individuals, families, groups, and communities.
Key Performance Areas:
• Provide frontline services which consist of collecting biographic information, scheduling appointments, and preparing related documents;
• Administrative support services for systematic management of information;
• Community education and empowerment; taking active participation in understanding community needs, assets, trends, and available support services for clients and continued aftercare services to clients;
• Provide practical and logistical support in preparation for outreach and educational programs;
• Participate in outreach services aimed at substance abuse prevention;
• Stakeholder relationship maintenance.

• Basic report writing and record-keeping skills;
