Primary Function:
To direct and lead the effective functioning of the support function to the Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) by providing high level strategic (and political) advice and counsel to the MMC by coordinating the implementation of the executive policy, developing, and managing the implementation of communications strategy (action plans) and managing key personnel in order to ensure the advancement of the MMC’s political programmes and strategy.

• Manage and lead the work of staff in the Office of the MMC in their execution of the government blueprint, as determined by the MMC.

OPERATIONAL MANAGER: STORES

Designation: Operational Manager: Stores 
Remuneration: R29 850.81 pm (basic salary, excluding benefits) 
Location: 195 Main Road, Martindale, Johannesburg
 
Minimum Requirements: 
• Grade 12 plus a National Diploma (NQF level 6) qualification in Supply Chain Management; 
• 3 – 5 years’ experience in a warehouse and procurement environment of a medium to macro-organisation. 
 
Primary Function:
Manage, control and administer the daily operations of Public Safety stores effectively and efficiently so that Public Safety’s financial position is reported accurately, systems and control measures are implemented and evaluated, and Public Safety conforms to the requirements of Council’s policies, procedures and the relevant financial legislation. 
 
Key Performance Areas: 
• Manage, control and administer stock and stock holding at Public Safety; 
• Financial management, control and administration of stock and stock holdings at Public Safety; 
• Manage, control, reconciliation and reporting of the internal and external stock audit; 
• Liaise with Departmental Heads, Department of Health and Safety and other station commanders/Public Safety stores to communicate any suggestions, feedback and problems that arise in the Section; 
• Training and development of staff to correctly function in their positions; 
• Promote knowledge and accountability when it comes to strategies and polices of the CoJ to improve and manage the department in an orderly fashion/manner; 
• Daily/monthly compilation, review, and consolidation of post-financial statements, expenditure, stock variance and inventory reports submission.

• Mathematical literacy at high school levels; 
• Procurement and stock control skills; 
• Computer literacy including MS Office Applications; 
• Accountability; 
• High level of confidentiality and organisational skills; 
• Time Management, working independently, under pressure and ability to prioritise.
