Internship opportunity for all qualifying Students in the Johannesburg Community

An internship programme is an intervention by the City of Johannesburg to address the growing demand by a tertiary institution for students to undergo on-the-job exposure, as a pre-requisite to acquire an academic qualification or as a requirement after the acquisition of academic qualification to obtain experiential training. The City is committed to providing work-based training for students.
 
• This Vacancy is open to all qualifying STUDENTS in the Johannesburg Community for a period not exceeding 18 months

The City of Johannesburg (CoJ), Citizen Relationship and Urban Management Department (CRUM) has the following Internship opportunities available for a period NOT exceeding eighteen (18) months 
 
DEPARTMENT: Citizen Relationship & Urban Management 
BRANCH: Region B 
DESIGNATION: Internship 
REMUNERATION:
(Qualification completed with min 360 credits): R8 620.79 pm (Basic Salary, no benefits) 
(Enrolled as a student) : R3 500.00 pm (Basic salary, no benefits) 
LOCATION: Auckland Park, ACA Krans Building 
 
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: 
• Matric plus a Diploma in Administrative or equivalent qualification registered at SAQA 5/6; 
• WHEREAS the institution envisages extending the training of the student by adding a practical or experiential training discipline hereinafter referred to as “training”, namely in the field of Administration as part of the existing courses/studies; 
• Computer literacy – MS Office Applications; 
• Only City of Joburg residents will be considered. 
 
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Perform administrative functions within the unit/department, which include logistical support in terms of assets management, fleet services, management of telephones and cellular telephones, maintenance issues and general procurement duties. 
 
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS: 
• Render administrative and support services in CRUM Regional Office; 
• Telephone management (Assisting the coordination and repairs and maintenance of telecommunication requirements); 
• Asset management (Assisting with asset inventories); 
• Transporting by hand of restricted documents, dealing with all types of sensitive and confidential information; 
• Manage and control all activities in the collection and delivery of stores issues; 
• Assist with Diary management and receiving of calls; 
• Assist with filing and typing in different Units; 
• Assist with Human Resources related matters such as monthly activity reports; 
• Assist with ad hoc administrative duties. 
 
LEADING COMPETENCIES: 
• Language proficiency (reading and writing) in English; 
• Knowledge of Council standard processes and procedures relating to providing administrative support would be advantageous.

• Ability to plan, organise and prioritise work;
