The City of Johannesburg (CoJ), Health Department (PHARMACY) has the following short term contract opportunities for a period NOT exceeding six (6) months. 
 
The details are as follows: 
 
THESE POSITIONS ARE AIMED AT RE-ENFORCEMENT OF STAFFING LEVELS IN PREPARATION FOR THE DURATION OF THE COVID 19 VACCINE ROLLOUT 
 
 
1. Department: Health 
Branch: District Health Systems 
Designation: Driver (Pharmacy) 
Salary Range: R10 553.63 pm (all-inclusive cost to company, no benefits) 
 
Appointment Requirements: 
 Grade 10/NQF level 2; 
 Must have a valid driver’s license Code C1 with PDP (Public Driving Permit); and 
 2 years’ driving experience. 
 
Primary Function Render an effective and efficient courier for Health Department. 
 
Key Performance Areas: Transport goods, parcels, and documents from one point to the other which includes loading and offloading of goods. Collect equipment and drugs from pharmacy and stores of goods 
 
Leading Competencies: Ability to plan delivery schedule. Reading/writing and Listening. Knowledge of driving, road signs, packing and delivering. 
 

Core Competencies: Must be able to work extended clinic hours. Must able to communicate. Good interpersonal relations.

2. Department: Health
Branch: District Health Systems
Designation: Administrative Officer (Pharmacy)
Salary: R22 215.52 pm (all-inclusive cost to company, no benefits)
 
Appointment Requirements:
 Grade 12 plus National Diploma (NQF level 6) or relevant qualification;
 Post Basic Pharmacists Assistant Certificate would be an added advantage;
 2 years’ experience in Administrative work environment dealing with ordering, receipt, storage and control of pharmaceutical supplies and surgical sundries in line with Supply Chain Management.
 
Primary Function: Assess and process clinics’ drug orders in accordance with Good Pharmacy Practice (GPP) regulations. Render a support pharmaceutical service in the medicine store and the pre-packaging unit. May perform duties prescribed under the direct personal supervision of a registered pharmacist.
 
Key Performance Areas: Monitor, evaluate and control medicine procurement, storage and distribution. Manage, supervise, monitor coordinate effective dispensing and distribution of medicine. Ensure distribution, redistribution / rotation of stock, to support facilities according to protocol and protocol and procedures. Promote health education in school, communities and clinics. Plan, organize and monitor administrative systems in place. Ensure stock control in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) for receipts, storage and disposal of expired and obsolete stock. Monitor, control, evaluate and implement appropriate financial and management systems and internal controls. Provide information to patients and community on the safe use and storage of medicine according to scope of practice to empower them on health-related matters. 
 
Leading Competencies: Collaborative/Teamwork & Accountability.
 
Core Competencies: Computer literacy (Microsoft Word, Excel, Emails and internet); Good Communication (verbal and written) and problem – solving skills required. Knowledge of the City’s process best practices and also policies procedures on medical supplies and equipment including knowledge of MFMA as it relate to procurements processes.

Designation: Manager: Pharmacy
Salary Range: R39 055.92 – R52 185.72 pm (all-inclusive cost to company, no benefits)
 
Appointment Requirements:
 Grade 12 plus B Pharm. Degree (NQF level 8);
 Proof of current registration with Pharmacy Council as a Pharmacist;
 5 years’ experience after the basic qualification;
 Knowledge of latest legislation pertaining to pharmaceutical services;
 Knowledge of City processes, best practices and policies and procedures on health issues;
 Knowledge of Research, Monitoring and Evaluation;
 Knowledge of Core PHC Norms and Standards, relevant National, Gauteng and CoJ protocols, policies and guidelines;
 Technical and IT skills, especially when it comes to database management spreadsheets; and
 Code 8 Driver’s licence.
 
Primary Function: Provide pharmaceutical services within the norms, standards and regulations of the Medicine Control Council and the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC). Render pharmaceutical services within the relevant scope of pharmacy practice and in support of the National Health Insurance (NHI) implementation process. Facilitate and support the education and training of pharmacy staff and nursing staff as guided by the SAPC and the NHI. Involve in research within the City and in collaboration with academic and health institutions. Participate in health promotion in support of the City of Johannesburg’s Health Department outreach programmes and other health activities. Support management in their effort to render health services.
 
Key Performance Areas: Planning, monitoring and reporting on facilities (clinics) in the regions through providing pharmaceutical support. Manage financial resources including financial reporting, budgeting, procurement, risk management and assets management in accordance to MFMA and PFMA and other legal frameworks. Monitor and evaluate health information processes that are specific to the operations of the Pharmaceutical Services issues pertaining to the National Core package of services, District Health Information Systems (DHIS), E-health and disseminate health related information to colleagues, health professionals and communities. Manage, lead, plan, organize, control, monitor and evaluate the implementation of the key performance indicators and outcomes of Pharmacy personnel in line with the DHIS, Skills Development and Training, Quality Assurance and Research. Implement procedures, systems and controls to regulate specific work sequences associated with the functionality of health care services in the sub-district. Manage and coordinate in conjunction with the Pharmacy Council legislation, staffing and training of personnel. Coordinate specific administrative and reporting requirements associated with the key performance and results indicators of the functionality. Leading Competencies: Initiative and decisiveness. Planning and organizing skills.
