1. Department: Group Communication and Marketing 
Branch: Online Communications: Strategic Communications 
Designation: Channel Manager 
Salary Range: R36 758.55 pm (basic salary excluding benefits) 
 
Appointment Requirements: 
• Degree / NQF level 7 in Digital Media / Marketing / Web Design / Mobile Applications / Software Development or related field. 
• Five (5) – seven (7) years proven experience of working in a digital media or marketing environment. 
• Experience in optimizing landing pages, designing websites and digital newsletters and in using related technologies such as mobile applications and software. 
• Experience of working with and managing information across different Content Management Systems (CMS). 


Primary Function: Manage the City’s reputation online, ensuring high engagement and responsive customer service using social media and helping to raise the profile and awareness of the Joburg brand through the management of accessible, relevant and timely digital content. 
 
Key Performance Areas: Develop, implement, track and optimize the City is digital content / marketing strategies and campaigns across all digital channels. Manage the Joburg online brand and raise awareness of the City’s priorities programmes and projects. Build relationships and respond to the questions / queries of online consumers / residents in a timely, accurate and honest manner. Review and monitor the effectiveness of the City’s online activities and assessing it against goals (e.g. ROI and KPI’s). Research of emerging technology and trends and provide thought leadership and perspective for adoption where appropriate. Manage the outcomes associated with the utilization, productivity and performance of staff in the Online Communications Sub unit. 
 
Leading Competencies: Solid knowledge of website analytics tools e.g. Google analytics web trends and Search Engine Optimizing (SEO) techniques. Working knowledge of ad service tools. Working knowledge of HTML, CSS and JavaScript development ad constraints. Content Management Systems and Open Source technologies which includes Drupal, Joomla, SharePoint, WordPress etc. 

Core Competencies: Strong analytical and data- driven thinking; web design, editing and journalistic writing; social networking and understanding of analytics and reporting; good problem-solving; emotional intelligence; project management; conceptualising and executing brief / presentations.

Designation: Photographer 
Salary Range: R25 876.88 pm (basic salary excluding benefits) 
 
Appointment Requirements: 
• Diploma / NQF level 6 in Digital Media / Marketing/ Web Design/ Mobile Applications / Software Development or related field. 
• Three (3) – five (5) years’ experience as photographer operating cameras and editing equipment as well as developed expertise with software to transmit and edit photos / images. 
 
Primary Function: Provide professional photographic content for advertising, promotion and documentation purposes and to shoot photographs that present the City’s activities, events, services or facilities in the best light 

Key Performance Areas: Create professional photographic products for a variety of clients and audiences according to creative briefs and with the necessary freedom to present the positive value of the Joburg brand. Work with client to understand their requirements to produce great results. Provide technical skills and support in operating and maintaining photographic equipment. Develop and maintain an appropriate archiving system for all photographic products / completed jobs. Provide photographic support to senior politicians and officials. 

Leading Competencies: Technical knowledge of digital processes and of a wide variety of professional camera equipment. 
 
Core Competencies: Skilled in a wide variety of image manipulation and image management software. Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Skilled in visualizing and shooting concept effectively. Proven track-record of skills and the ability to deliver (i.e. a professional and impressive portfolio which could be online, a traditional book, or on a CD or memory stick).

Designation: Videographer 
Salary Range: R25 876.88 pm (basic salary excluding benefits) 
 
Appointment Requirements: 
• Diploma / NQF level 6 in Video Production, Film Studies / Cinematography or related field. 
• Three (3) – five (5) years’ experience in videography as well as experience in: 
✓ Graphics 
✓ Multimedia 
✓ DVD authoring, and 
✓ Editing (i.e. developed expertise with software to transmit and edit video footage). 

Primary Function: Create relevant content for target audiences by making use of professional video recording and editing equipment and to produce video / documentaries that are edited digitally and streamed for variety of uses across various communication platforms. This includes the delivery of all – round technical and functional audio- visual production support as well as ensuring the optimal functionality of the video equipment within the department, 

Key Performance Areas: Create professional video products for a variety of clients and audiences. Work with clients to understand their requirements to produce great results. Provide technical skills and support in operating and maintaining proper levels and calibration of video cameras, and other production equipment. Develop and maintain an appropriate logging system for all video products recorded / completed jobs. 

Leading Competencies: Technical knowledge of digital processes and of all camera and production equipment including post production software packages. 

Core Competencies: Advanced computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint) Apple MAC operating systems and editing & design software. Excellent Communication (verbal and written); interpersonal skills required. Technical ability to work on a variety of audio / video / lighting systems.
