This Vacancy is open to YOUTH in the Johannesburg community
An internship programme is an intervention by the City of Johannesburg to address the growing demand by tertiary institution for students to undergo on-the-job exposure, as a pre-requisite to acquire an academic qualification or as a requirement after the acquisition of an academic qualification to obtain experiential training. The City is committed to provide work-based training for students.
The City of Johannesburg (CoJ), Group Finance Department has the following Internship opportunities available for a period NOT exceeding eighteen (18) months.
The details are as follows:
1. Department: Group Finance: Revenue Shared Services Centre
Branch: Billing (Back Office)
Designation: Intern
Salary Range: R8 329.27 pm (cost to company, basic salary, no benefits)
Appointment Requirements:
National Diploma or Degree in Finance or related field;
Computer literacy;
Must be able to work extended hours as and when required;
Ages between 18 – 35 years; and
Only City of Joburg residents will be considered
Primary Function: Execute functions within Back Office Revenue Shared Services to resolve all customer queries logged in SAP CRM in order to maximize collection accounts and reduce the debtors, while meeting or exceeding targets set by Billing Directorate using SAP ISU and CRM.
Key Performance Areas: Analyse and identify queries received by Back Office Revenue. Source and analyze relevant documentation for effectively resolving queries received in the Back-Office Revenue. Create, correct, modify and rectify accounts on SAP ISU. Inform the relevant internal and external stakeholders of the query outcome. Administration and record – keeping of all sourced and other substantive documents for perusal by relevant stakeholders. Execute manual adjustments for leaks, Test meters and archived periods in order to rectify customer accounts where the online system support is not available. Resolve all legal matters instituted against the City of Joburg while complying with timeline and policies, procedures. Attend court on legal matters still in disputes. Comply with all relevant legislative framework including the City’s Code of Ethics manage and mitigate risk effectively at the level of own authority. Provide management with a productivity report and mitigate where the targets have not been reached. Maintain strong customer and working relation with RSS customers, peers and other internal stakeholders to ensure correct focus and support. Efficiently utilize the operational assets and resources in the area of responsibility cost effectively in accordance with the legislative framework of the City’s policies and procedures.

2. Department: Group Finance: Revenue Shared Services Centre
Branch: Credit Management: Outbound Collections
Designation: Intern
Salary Range: R8 329.27 pm (cost to company, basic salary, no benefits)
Appointment Requirements:
National Diploma or Degree in Financial environment or Credit management/Customer service;
Knowledge of local government will be an added advantage;
Strong phone and verbal communication with active listening skills and telephone etiquette;
Computer literacy;
Must be able to work extended hours as and when required;

Primary Function: Collect on arrear municipal account debtors using Omni-channels through dialer collections incorporating inbound and outbound systems such as telephonic, email, sms, chat services, online AOD services, track & trace systems and the usage of SAP CRM/ISU systems in rehabilitating arrear debtors back to current.
Key Performance Areas: Inbound and Outbound Arrear Collection by collecting on arrear account debt associated with CoJ arrear account debtors and guided by the Credit and Debt Collection Policy. Provide arrear debtors with the full process applicable to payment arrangements. Maintaining and improving current debtors’ accounts. Improving and maximizing revenue collection on accounts with queries. Trace the City’s customers who are in arrears in order to obtain their latest contact details to collect outstanding debt.

Designation: Intern
Salary Range: R8 329.27 pm (cost to company, basic salary, no benefits)

Relevant National Diploma/Degree in Finance;
Knowledge of local government will be an added advantage;
Computer literacy and good communication skills;
Must be able to work extended hours as and when required;
Ages between 18 – 35 years; and

Primary Function: Provide a high quality Customer Service to customer contacts via all media (telephonically, written correspondence, e-services and if necessary visiting customers), using initiative to resolve a minimum of 80% of customer queries on first contact, within the Customer Interface environment, while meeting or exceeding targets set by the R&CRM department.
Key Performance Areas: Handle customer information and service requests within the customer interface using all necessary resources available to resolve queries at first contact. Receive and process all customer requests onto the CRM system according to R&CRM set standards. Log all queries onto the CRM according to R&CRM set standards. Monitor work status on all opened calls. Process reconnections for municipal owned entities. Channel all queries unresolved at first contact to the correct department/s for their intervention. Implement credit control procedures – including making necessary debt arrangements with customers, opening and closing of accounts as per set CoJ policies/procedures. Implement social package processes, methods and systems. Perform office administration duties.

Job Description: Performance Management - Foster compliance of the department to related legislative functions in respect of Performance Management. Provide monitoring and standardization regarding implementation of the Performance Management Policy across all business units in the Group Finance department. Service Monitoring - Assist with the development and facilitation of contractual arrangements with relevant stakeholders that impact the operations of Group Finance; Assist managing administration functions in relation to Service Level Agreements; Assist with administration functions relating to governance structures; Maintain sound relations with all stakeholders and Service Level Agreement partners. Ensure that reporting is done against Service Level Agreement KPI’s
Key Performance Areas: Monitor and standardize the implementation of Performance Management in the Department. Ensure alignment of individual performance objectives to Integrated Development Plan (IDP) and Service Delivery Implementation Plan (SDBIP). Facilitate ad-hoc engagements and submissions for the department. Service monitoring.
