Purpose:
Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities:
- Develop a Comprehensive conservation strategy that aligns with ecological and community needs
- Forecast long-term environmental trends and plan accordingly
- Integrate conservation goals with broader municipal developmental plans
- Coordinate with municipal department to ensure alignment of objectives
- Draft and propose new conservation policies
- Update conservation practices to adhere to new regulations
- Oversee daily operations of all conservation sites
- Monitor resource usage to minimize waste and maximize efficiency
- Develop and implement feeding protocols for wildlife within conservation areas
- Identify conservation project needs and opportunities
- Manage logistics to support project equipment
- Prepare annual budget for conservation activities
- Coordinate audits to ensure financial compliance
- Identify and apply for grants and funding from government and non-governmental sources
- Regularly inspect conservation sites for compliance with environmental standards
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments to identify potential environmental, operational, and financial risks
- Design and implement outreach programs to increase awareness of conservation issues

Job Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Conservation Biology, Ecology or a related field
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in environmental conservation and Natural resource management
- 2 years' experience in management or supervisory role.

Purpose:
Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee management and operational activities of the depot within Parks and Cemeteries division
- Ensure sustainable development, maintenance and enhancement of city parks and open spaces through strategic planning resource management and community engagement
- Promote stewardship and provide safe, accessible, and aesthetically pleasing public spaces for the enjoyment and well-being of the community
- Monitor daily operations across all sites, ensure that activities are carried out efficiently, safely, and to the highest standards of quality
- Conduct regular site inspections to assess the condition of parks, facilities, and equipment, and to identify any issues that require immediate action
- Schedule and oversee regular maintenance and repair activities for all municipal facilities under the area of responsibility, including halls, lapas, and other infrastructure. Ensure they are in optimal condition and meet safety standards
- Coordinate with contractors and service providers for specialised maintenance and repair work. Ensure that all external work meets the city's high standards
- Manage comprehensive grass cutting programs across all city parks and open spaces to maintain their aesthetic appeal and usability. Coordinate schedules to optimize growth cycles and seasonal variation
- Develop and implement ecological management plans that include native plantings, habitat restoration, and sustainable land use practices
- Manage fleet of vehicles and equipment, including scheduling regular maintenance checks and coordinating repairs at the workshop to minimize downtime due to breakdowns
- Implement a robust inventory management system to accurately track and manage all equipment and supplies, optimizing usage and preventing shortages or overstock situations
- Develop, manage, and oversee annual budgets for all horticultural operations. Ensure alignment within area of responsibility
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee the execution of all horticultural projects within area of responsibility. Ensure they are completed on time, within the budget, and to specified quality time standards
- Conduct regular audits of operations to ensure adherence to established standards and protocols, taking corrective actions as necessary
- Organise community forums and public meetings to discuss upcoming park projects and initiative, gathering community feedback and fostering involvement
- Prepare comprehensive monthly reports detailing operational activities, financial performance, project statuses, and compliance issues, and submit these reports to senior management
Job Requirements
- National Diploma in Horticulture or related field
- 5 years' experience in horticulture management, including supervisory roles

Responsibilities

- Attend meetings to provide legal advise to Committees of Council, Sub Committees and any other Committee as directed to ensure legal compliance and good governance
- Responsible to provide strategic capability and leadership towards implementing and monitoring to ensure effective legal compliance and good governance
