Minimum Requirements:

  • National Diploma in Built Environment as per National Building Regulations or relevant equivalent NQF Level 6 qualification
  • 3 years' experience in the building construction or operated within the prescripts of the National Building Regulations and Town Planning Schemes
  • At least 2 years spent in a supervisory role in the building industry

 

 

 

Core Responsibilities:

  • Perform quality control over building inspections in ensuring that the prescripts of the Act is adhered to by coordinating training and skills development aspects of building control in terms of legislative requirements
  • Manage and coordinate building inspections, enforcement processes, contravention investigations, and corrective actions to ensure public safety and regulatory compliance
  • Oversee the assessment, approval, monitoring, and issuing or refusal of Certificate of Occupancy and related building control authorisations in accordance with legislative requirements
  • Supervise and manage staff performance, training, skills development, discipline, and employee wellness to ensure effective service delivery and achievement of Departmental objectives
  • Manage all administrative and financial related functions for building control by using appropriate administration procedures and equipment to ensure office efficiency and compliance with legislation
  • Implement and provide input into governance and risk management processes, systems and legislation
  • Monitor and enforce effective financial control, corporate governance and financial compliance in ensuring efficient resource management
  • Coordinate and consolidate inspection statistics, compliance reports, enforcement records, occupancy certification data, court outcomes, and other management information required for reporting and decision-making
  • Drive service delivery improvement, organisational efficiency, process optimisation, and ethical conduct to support the strategic objectives of the directorate and the Municipality
