Minimum Requirements:
- B-Degree in Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current)/ Relevant NQF7 qualification
- ECSA registered (Pr Eng,/Pr Tech./Pr Cert Eng)
- Code B drivers' licence
- 5 years experience in the operation, maintenance and refurbishment of municipal electrical distribution networks or a similar environment
- Electrical engineer's certificate of competency will be an added advantage
Core Responsibilities:
- Manage the support services of the of the electrical distribution network business unit
- Provide strategic support to the chief area engineer to meet the departments strategic goals and objectives
- Manage, control and coordinate the maintenance of streetlights and area lighting to ensure optimum service delivery.
- Manage the performance of electrical networks to identify trends of electrical equipment failures and derive effective solutions and remedies.
- Prepare reports as per developed set standards, requirements, legislation and regulations.
- Appoint and monitor contractors in accordance with supply chain measures and procedures.
- Evaluate and monitor contractor performance to ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
- Design and review street, area and sport field lighting designs and review plans and specifications of proposed new lighting installations.
- Ensure compliance to governance, legislation and mitigate risks with area of accountability.
- Manage and maintain electrical infrastructure which include street, and area lighting and electrical maintenance of Council buildings.
- Lead and manage direct and indirect teams by providing a meaningful context, setting performance standards and educating on policies and processes.

The successful candidate will be required to sign a performance contract as per Council resolution.

Minimum Requirements:
- National Diploma in Civil Engineering
- Applicable valid code B driver's license
- Computer literacy
- 3 years' experience in a similar environment
Core Responsibilities:
- Assist with the administrative functions in the planning office
- Compile reports in accordance with the council set standards and submit on time
- Provide inputs on budgeted resources to meet specific objectives, monitor results and make adjustments where necessary
- Provide written comments on all development applications and submit for assessment
- Provide advice on engineering plans and projects in your area of accountability
- Attend to site construction meetings, visits and inspections and provide inputs on the engineering activities for the planning office
- Ensure compliance with the relevant legislation, council resolutions, policies guidelines etc.
- Deliver on service level agreements that are aligned with Batho Pele principles, monitor feedback and ensure continued customer satisfaction
