ASSISTANT MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTANT (PERMANENT)

CEF (SOC) Ltd is involved in the search for appropriate energy solutions to meet the energy needs of South Africa, The Southern African Development Community (SADC) and the sub-Saharan African region, focussing on clean energy options as well as fossil fuels as per the mandate from the Department of Energy. It also manages the operation and development of the oil and gas assets of the South African government including strategic crude oil assets and management. CEF controls entities with commercial and developmental roles, housed in eight operating subsidiaries.
Required minimum qualifications and experience:
B - Com Management Accounting/Finance
CIMA or CA (SA) will be an added advantage
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in management/ cost accounting
Key Performance Indicators
Management Reporting:
Prepare monthly CEF SOC management accounts to the Group Management Accountant for review
Prepare monthly CEF SOC variance reporting
Prepare various different forecasts (short term/ long-term) for CEF SOC.
Completion of all DOE/ Treasury reporting requirements
Assist in compiling of the Group management accounts
Budgeting/ Forecasting
Prepare monthly; quarterly and annual budget guidelines and structures for review by the Group Management Accountant.
Project management all budget and forecast processes to ensure accuracy and timeous completion
Reconcile all departmental forecasts with strategic plans; medium term plans and long range plans
Devise action plans to accommodate management decisions on financial improvements within the company.
Cash Flow Management
Manage and prepare the CEF SOC Flow Forecast and continuously reduce the reporting period of such.
Monitor monthly forecasts against actuals in order to continuously improve accuracy
Tracking and reporting of organisational performance vs budgets
Devise methods and implement in order to measure key performance indicators appropriately
Continuously monitor CEF SOC’s performance against long term vision and strategy and devise action plans
Stakeholder relations Management
Interface with CEF SOC budget owners and assist them with budget requirements and management
Desired additional skills/ competencies
Business Skills: moderate understanding of overall business operations and measurements, including responsibility for monitoring the implementation of strategy
People skills: Influence, Negotiation and decision-making, Communication Collaboration and partnering
Leadership Skills: Team player, Driving performance and a Change management agent
