Job Description
Job Purpose: Performs tasks/ activities associated with monitoring and reporting on the progress and execution of specific roads, stormwater drainage and maintenance work, transportation of material/ equipment and personnel to/ from work sites.
 
Duties: • Performs specific tasks/ activities (such as Transporting personnel, material and equipment etc.) at the depot prior to and on completion of allocated maintenance assignments. • Receiving instructions/ work orders from the immediate superior and establishing details of tasks (vehicle, materials and personnel). Setting up signage and safety signals to accommodate traffic and pedestrian flow. • Completes internal transactional documentation (e.g. tally sheets, log sheet, progress report etc.) and related forms (vehicles checklist). • Ensure acceptable levels of productivity and performance standards are maintained by controlling attendance of personnel, addressing workplace conflict, and Investigating accident and incidents on site. • Allocates, monitors, and controls road and stormwater repair and construction work at specific sites by effectively communicating to teams and monitor progress and deviations, referring to work schedules and registers. • Performs specific tasks (such as - Using building tools and materials to fill potholes, repair sidewalks and reinstatement of roadlayers) associated with road and stormwater related repairs, construction, installation, and general maintenance. • Performs specific tasks associated with the operation of heavy and or specialized vehicles by Driving and maneuvering the vehicles and engaging controls to operate mechanisms (mounted cranes) to facilitate specific sequences (tipping, hoisting etc).  •Inspecting safety devices, controls, lubricant levels, etc on vehicles and reports defects to the immediate superior. • Adhere to health and safety procedures in line with Council Policy and legislation.

  • Valid Code EC1 driver ’s license plus PrDP
  • 2 years’ relevant experience

Job Description

Duties:
  • Identifies with the wastewater/water treatment strategy with respect to service delivery and defines, implements and monitors the short to medium term plans/objectives for the Laboratory functionality. 
  • Directs and controls the Key Performance Indicators and outcomes of personnel within the Laboratory Division.
  • Formulates and implements procedures, systems and controls to regulate specific work sequences and general practices/processes as dictated by wastewater/water treatment legislation and by-laws.
  • Plans, prioritises and schedules the installation and repair/maintenance of electrical metering projects and quality of supply.
  • Performs activities associated with procurement and co-ordinates the administration of contracts for laboratory goods and services.
  • Coordinate and control that the inventory of the chemical store in terms of usage of consumables and coordinate and control the procurement of depleted stock.

Job Description
Job Purpose: 
Apply engineering knowledge and perform technical support associated with Bulk Metering, Embedded Generation and Quality of Supply installations, network projects, reticulation diagnostics and data analysis in accordance with laid down standards, policies, legislation, systems and controls within the distribution jurisdiction (license domain) of Breede Valley Municipality.
 
Duties: 
  • Allocate specific meter installation work activities (new installations, condition assessments, upgrades, functional tests) to authorized service providers
  • Ensure that the section`s maintenance schedule is accurately applied
  • Perform dedicated / routine quality control inspections on all electrical installations and constructions pertaining to bulk service metering, power quality and embedded generation on reticulation infrastructure and support structures in compliance with SANS 10142 and NRS 057 as per municipal procedure & policies.
  • Monitor condition assessments of projected & existing installation outlay, network infrastructure, condition monitoring equipment, etc. 
  • Perform electronic data recordings of engineering parameters for work in progress/completed for various sites.
  • Conducting inspections to determine extent of compliance or variations from contractual agreements, specifications and standards
  • Interact with contractors / service providers / specialized personnel on sites to determine qualitative and quantitative aspects of work input
  • Perform assigned site inspections and acquire critical installation / construction parameters
  • Research applicable engineering subjects for information and specifications pertaining to the project tasks as instructed by immediate superior
  • Analysing and interpreting designs, diagrams, plans, etc. (internal departments, external stakeholders etc.)
  • Assembling base information and drawings in conjunction with the immediate superior / professional personnel.
  • Conduct periodic on-load and off-load functional and accuracy verification tests on bulk meter installations.
  • Perform installation - and computer system monitoring of automated metering infrastructure (AMI).

  • Review all Small-Scale Embedded Generation applications as per departmental procedure.

Job Description
Job Purpose: Co-ordinates and controls the set-up, work in progress and completion of specialized tasks activities associated with HV/MV electrical network contributing to the accomplishment of departmental objectives.
 
Duties: • Providing guidelines and specific instructions to personnel with respect to the preparation of work site for major/ minor works and/ or setting up of traffic signage. • Perform activities and sequences associated with maintaining the functionality HV/MV (Primary Function) and LV (Secondary Function) electrical reticulation systems. • Construct and install new or upgrade existing electrical networks including cables, transmission lines, substations, transformers, distribution and metering panels and service connections. • Conducting tests to diagnose and determine the nature of the fault and communicating with the immediate superior on the possibility of re-routing supply during major disruption/ repair work. • Performs specialized tasks such as high voltage cable fault finding, termination and jointing, line stringing and tensioning, high voltage switchgear and transformer maintenance. • Ensure proper and efficient planned, preventative and emergency maintenance in accordance with the specifications and in compliance with the relevant safety legislation. • Marking routes for the running in and laying of cables and positioning of supporting structures (poles) and providing guidance to personnel on specific activities (e.g., cleaning of conductors, binding and strapping, stripping of individual conductors.). • Jointing and termination of medium voltage cable, line stringing and tensioning, medium voltage switchgear. • Engaging controls to operate mechanisms (cherry picker / mounted cranes) to facilitate specific sequences (hoisting, overhead repairs, etc). • Monitoring attendance/conduct and output and addressing deviations from agreed performance indicators through meetings/counselling and/or other approved methods designed to improve and motivate personnel. • Leading and guiding staff. • Maintaining staff discipline and dealing with disciplinary and grievance interventions timeously, fairly and in terms of established policies and procedures. • Supervise contractors and temporary employees (EPWP) whilst executing duties. • Referring to work schedules and registers to correct deviations in entries raised during processing. • Ensure a well-maintained designated vehicle and the accurate capturing of kilometres in accordance with the laid down Procedures, Policies and guidelines. • Adheres to technical standards and safety legislation by complying with procedures, policies instructions and guidelines. • Carry our safety inspections as required by immediate superior.

Job Description
Job Purpose: Co-ordinates and controls the set-up, work in progress and completion of specialized tasks / activities associated with LV 400 V electrical network infrastructure in accordance with laid down electrical standards, regulations and legislation.
 
Duties: • Providing guidelines and specific instructions to personnel with respect to the preparation of work site for major/ minor works and setting up of traffic signage. • Marking routes for the running in and laying of cables and positioning of supporting structures (poles) and providing guidance to personnel on specific activities (e.g. cleaning of conductors, binding and strapping, stripping of individual conductors). • Construct and install new or upgrade existing electrical network infrastructure including cables, distribution lines, substations, transformers, distribution and metering installations and service connections etc. • Jointing and termination of low voltage cable, line stringing and tensioning, low voltage switchgear. • Perform maintenance on electrical LV networks including all associated electrical equipment. • Maintain electricity networks, electrical protection and metering devices, standby generators, building electrical, pump stations (electrical switchgear) and mechanical installations. • Conducting tests to diagnose and determine the nature of the fault and communicating with the immediate superior on the possibility of re-routing supply during major disruption/ repair work. • Performs specialized tasks such as low voltage cable fault finding, termination and jointing, line stringing and tensioning, low voltage switchgear and transformer maintenance to ensure proper and efficient planned, preventative and emergency maintenance in accordance with the specifications and in compliance with the relevant safety legislation. • Engaging controls to operate mechanisms (cherry picker) to facilitate specific sequences (hoisting, overhead repairs and rigging etc.) • Leading and guiding staff. • Monitoring attendance /conduct and output and addressing deviations from agreed performance indicators through meetings /counselling and/or other approved methods designed to improve and motivate personnel. • Maintaining staff discipline and dealing with disciplinary and grievance interventions timeously, fairly and in terms of established policies and procedures. • Referring to work schedules and registers to correct deviations in entries raised during processing. • Transporting personnel / material and monitoring the off-loading of materials and equipment. • Adheres to technical standards and safety legislation by complying with the OHS Act, procedures, policies and guidelines. • Monitor that Contractors adhere to Health and Safety regulations in terms of Municipal By-law, policies, procedures and guidelines.
 
Job Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
  • Trade Test Electrical Artisan
  • 2 years relevant experience in an electrical environment
  • Valid Code C1 + PrDP Driver’s License
  • Valid ORHVS Certificate
  • Valid Certificate of competence in Operating a Mobile Elevating Work platform (MEWP)
  • Supervisory skills
  • Proficient in at least two of the three official languages in the Western Cape
 
Preferred Requirements:
  • N4 Electrical Engineering Certificate + Wireman’s License
  • Valid Crane Operator Certificate
  • Valid Code EC Driver’s License
  • 3 years relevant experience as an Electrician in an electrical environment
