ABOUT US:
Armscor is the acquisition agency for the Department of Defence and other organs of state. We focus on producing research and vanguard technological solutions required to provide safety and security for South Africa and the continent, and providing the armed forces with state of the art defence material, delivering innovative defence solutions efficiently.
 
PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To ensure timeous and accurate payment of invoices (contracts and sundries), rework orders and handling of amendments in support of the acquisition process.
 
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • National Diploma in Commerce with Accounting at 3rd year level. 
  • 2 to 3 years in financial environment
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
  • Check invoices against the contract conditions to ensure legibility, accuracy and correctness. 
  • Check for compliance of invoices to applicable legislation (VAT Act). 
  • Perform calculations (rate of exchange, escalations, penalties and short payments). 
  • Capture invoices on the system to the average value of R396 million per annum. 
  • Selection and printing of payment certificate (MD36). 
  • Completion of the payment advice (MBA23). 
  • Send proof of payments to service providers on regular basis. 
  • Updating of financial information of the order on the system in order to effect payment.
  • Identification and processing of problem invoices. 
  • Receive amendments and adjust orders accordingly. 
  • Reconciliation of creditors’ statements. 
  • Compiling of bank letters, loan accounts advices and debtors claims. 
  • Compiling and capturing of journals entries for payments and corrections. 
  • Compilation of year-end provisions. 
 
KNOWLEDGE & FUNCTIONAL SKILLS:
  • Knowledge of creditors/accounts payable
