ARTISAN MECHANICAL TURNER
Based at Nahoon Dam
Operations Division
Salary: R 537,208 - R 709,217 (per annum inclusive of benefits)
Minimum Qualifications:
• Matric
• National Certificate (N2) Turning/Fitting and Turning OR Higher in Mechanical Engineering.
• Trade test certificate (Turning/Fitting and Turning).
Preferred Qualification:
• N3 qualification (Mechanical Engineering) and Trade Test Certificate Turning/Fitting and Turning
Minimum Experience:
• Three years post trade test experience - mechanical equipment of which 1 year must be at a supervisory level
• Sound knowledge of maintenance and safety systems (i.e. safety requirements & standards as per OHS Act)
• Proven experience in manufacturing and refurbishment of pumps.
• Sound knowledge of operation of power tools for the purpose of machining mechanical components.
• Proven experience in refurbishment of different types of valves, gearboxes and
hydraulic systems.
Key Outputs:
Reporting to the Foreman Mechanical, the appointee will:
• Perform Maintenance of all mechanical plant, equipment and buildings
• Perform routine breakdown maintenance on various mechanical equipment, plant or buildings
• Ensure that relevant defects and work requests are attended to promptly to minimise outage time
• Supports Mechanical section by selecting cutting tools for machining operations using CNC or conventional lathes.
• Ensure all services meet the statutory requirements to minimise accidents and incidents by implementing and maintaining an adequate safety regime
• Ensure all mechanical plant and equipment is in safe condition before commencing any work on them
• Report accidents/incidents
• Ensure monitoring of finance-related affairs (Ordering / Vehicle use) of the section
• Monitor overtime worked in order to control labour costs.
• Co-ordinate trips to minimise outage time and travelling expenses
• Assist supervisor in appraising and mentoring staff for the further development and improving of performance outputs
• Communicate information, decisions and regulations to staff and facilitating upward communication to minimise misunderstandings
• Carry out reasonable and lawful instructions as given by the line manager/ supervisor within the ambit of the position taking into consideration competencies and operational requirements.
• Carry out maintenance of turning lathe and tools.
Competencies:
• Computer literacy – MS Office
• Valid unendorsed drivers’ licence (regular site visits required)
• Knowledge of the OHS Act
Specific Skills
• Diagnostic and Fault Finding Skills.
• Ability to read schematic drawings.
• Ability to plan workload.
• Ability to work with minimum supervision.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Prepared to work overtime and perform standby duties.

SERVER TECHNICIAN

Minimum Qualifications:
• Recent Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MCSE) Qualification (or Equivalent
Diploma) with knowledge of MS Exchange and MS SQL server
Minimum Experience:
• PC and network support experience, preferable in a corporate environment - 3 years
• Windows Server Support experience - 2 years (can be concurrent)
• Sound knowledge of windows server configuration
• Sound knowledge of MS Exchange configuration
Key Outputs:
Reporting to the ICT OPS Specialist, the appointee will:
• Maintain the server and networking infrastructure of Amatola Water at the highest quality and performance level
• Configure and maintain exchange environment
• Configure SQL server environment by ensuring correct installation and backup procedures are maintained
• Maintain and install all servers and related server software as approved by supervisor
• Maintaining and monitoring IT security mechanisms
• Reinstate passwords and facilitate the password maintenance procedures
• Change and check backup tapes daily
• Restore data on monthly basis for verification
• Monitor Wide Area Network status
• Monitor status using approved tools
• Troubleshoot in the event of network downtime
• Compile and submit performance activity monthly reports
• Minimize IT non-conformances & IT Risk to ensure compliance to policy
• Carry out reasonable and lawful instructions as given by the line manager/
supervisor within the ambit of the position taking into consideration competencies
and operational requirements
Competencies:
• Customer-service orientation and related communication skills
