Job Description
Flight Data Controller- Patterson Grade C1 
An exciting vacancy exists at King Shaka International Airport for an experienced Flight Data Controller within the Operations Management Division.
 
Key Performance Output
The successful candidate, reporting to the Assistant Manager Information Management and Billing will be responsible for the following:
  • Accurately capture air traffic movement data which include aircraft landing, take-off, and parking times.
  • Monitor all radio frequencies and escalate noncompliance.
  • Source estimated time of arrival/departure of various aircraft operators.
  • Update flight information display system (FIDS) data to provide passengers and airport users with up-to date flight information.
  • Capture all movements in the Airport Management System
  • Ensure alignment of airline schedule against seasonal slots.
  • Generate and distribute a resource plan (parking bay list) for the purpose of all stakeholders.
  • Notify Airport Operations for bay changes when required.
  • Responsible for flight allocation schedules and non-scheduled operations.
  • Liaise with Air traffic and Navigation Service (ANS) to manage calculated take-off time (CTOT).
  • Manage aircraft changes and take remedial action as and when required.
  • Handle financial transactions and receive cash.
  • Adhere to statutory regulations, organisational standards, policies and procedures. Report noncompliance and implement corrective actions to ensure compliance.
  • Analyse Stakeholder needs and identify improvement initiatives.
  • Build, support and maintain healthy, diverse internal and external relationships to ensure achievement of organisational goals. Implement remedial actions where required.
  • Manage principles to ensure fair utilisation between airlines.
 
Technical Skills and Experience
The following skills and experience or the equivalent of such will be required: 
  • Higher Certificate in Logistics / commercial / operations management is Essential.
  • 1-2 years Aeronautical documentation operational is Essential.
  • 1 year Stakeholder engagement operational is Essential.
  • Technical, specialist or analytical skills acquired through tertiary education or the equivalent experience.

The successful candidate will be reporting to Group Executive Operations Management, and will be responsible but not limited to the following:
  • Drive and implement airport strategy aligned with ACSA strategy and the airport network strategy. 
  • Monitor macro and micro-economic conditions, legislation, competition, market sentiment and the industry in general to regularly assess impact on ACSA Position the airport to support the network strategy, maximize revenue growth and commercial opportunities; and support future sustainability of the Airports.
  • Develop an airport capability, services and solutions to enable ACSA to operate effectively and deliver optimally to clients
  • Drive the implementation and compliance with defined service standards; and drive implementation of standardised processes and ways of working according to the airport network policies and standards
  • Drive the development and execution of value-adding client and airport stakeholder programs to improve commercial viability and customer experience
  • Provide oversight on meeting of service level agreements and contractual obligations within the airport environment.
  • Establish the implementation of Aviation Security, as well as Public Safety and Security strategies
  • Ensure the implementation and maintenance of a Quality Management System
  • Accountable for compliance to all airport regulations
  • Implement people development processes such as talent management, performance management and succession planning to meet functional performance standards.
  • Develop operational, capex and labour budgets for the function emanating from business plans. Accountable for airport CAPEX and OPEX budget
  • Direct operational, labour and capex requirements within the function for efficient delivery of operational targets and submit recommendations to Executive Management/Board.
  • Review value of practices, systems and structures to determine appropriateness in light of the strategic intent and take remedial actions where necessary as per agreed change control process
  • Provide direction for IT infrastructure and solution to enable the business to deliver effective and efficient real time information and results.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal, governance, policies, procedures, standards and sound business practice to meet business and operation management standards.
  • Manage ACSA’s risk exposure through identification, implementation and maintenance of risk control measures to minimise the Company’s liability.
  • Ensure compliance to national and international aviation and any relevant legislation and statutory regulations/ requirements/ frameworks
  • Provision of accurate and timely reports in accordance with statutory, business and executive management requirements.
  • Drive risk strategy, set tolerances and overall mitigation leadership of key airport risks
  • Drive the significance of Airports Company South Africa as a key player in the local, national and international tourism and airline industries as well as government forums through relationships.
  • Establish, manage and monitor healthy, diverse, workable internal and external relationships, including the interface with external providers to ensure divisional / functional needs are met and organisational goals achieved.
