JOB PURPOSE
To administer research within Skills Planning and Research department.
 
ROLE CONTEXT
Administration of research functions within the Skills Planning and Research department in the Research Unit working closely with Research Manager.
 
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
 
KEY PERFORMANCE AREA: RESEARCH
FUNCTIONAL OUTPUTS / ACTIONS:
• Support the Research Manager and/ within the Research division to strengthen the Sector Skills Plan and AgriSETA specific research
• Conduct desktop, field and telephonic research
• Under the guidance of the Research Manager develop questionnaires/interview schedules and other data gathering tools to stakeholders
• Administer face–to-face interviews/questionnaires and telephonic interviews to stakeholders
• Manage records and tracking of the all the questionnaires received
• Capture research data
• Collate all records of the all the questionnaires received
 
KEY PERFORMANCE AREA: CAPTURING OF DATA
FUNCTIONAL OUTPUTS / ACTIONS: • Data collection and capturing of questionnaires for incorporating into the Sector Skills Plan and Research Reports.
• Administering, capturing and editing of all questionnaires for all research related activities.
 
KEY PERFORMANCE AREA: SECTOR SKILLS COMMITTEES
FUNCTIONAL OUTPUTS / ACTIONS: • Organise Sector Skills Committees meeting and plenary
• Draft minutes for meetings
• Receive and capture travel claims
• Conduct site visits prior the Sector Skills Committees meeting and plenary
• Organising Sector Skills Committees files
• Responsible for the logistical arrangements
 
KEY PERFORMANCE AREA: MANAGEMENT OF DATA
FUNCTIONAL OUTPUTS / ACTIONS: • Collate, capture and store all questionnaires and other research tools used to capture
• Compile research related data on request
• Maintain various data sets
• Basic data analysis
 
KEY PERFORMANCE AREA: STAKEHOLDER LIAISON
FUNCTIONAL OUTPUTS / ACTIONS: • Maintain stakeholder relations
• Provide guidance to stakeholders on research opportunities
• Provide feedback on travel claims for SSC members
 
KEY PERFORMANCE AREA: ADMINISTRATION
FUNCTIONAL OUTPUTS / ACTIONS: • Organise meetings for research purposes with stakeholders. Generate weekly and monthly reports
• Assist with basic administration tasks
• Manage records and tracking of all research-related activities.
 
KEY PERFORMANCE AREA: AD HOC
FUNCTIONAL OUTPUTS / ACTIONS: • Any other duties which may be assigned from time to time
 
 
INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL CONTACTS
• Internal departments: All departments within AgriSETA
• External research partners and stakeholders
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
• NQF Level 6 Qualification or Equivalent with Research Methodology as a module.
• A relevant post graduate qualification will be an added advantage.
• 2 years solid experience in the research environment.
• Experience in undertaking interviews and questionnaires with individuals and focus groups.
• Basic statistics experience.
• Driving license is mandatory.
 
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES
• Be willing to travel
• Project management skills
• Demonstrated competence with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
• Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
• Have the necessary administrative skills
• Demonstrate ability to work well as part of a team
