Requirements:

Job Description
 Administrative (secretariat) office services
  • Ensure various administrative tasks for the nutrition team at API. 
  • Meetings: arrangements, agendas, attendance registers, minutes, relevant documents, venues, and refreshments when needed.               
  • Copier/Printer: Monitor responsible usage, Stationery controlled with project numbers. 
  • Procurement 
  • Ensure travel arrangements, SAGE requisitions, quotations, bookings, orders, tickets, GRNs and invoices. 
  • Stationery: manage, orders, monthly stock count, and issue on SAGE. 
  • Petty Cash: withdrawals, approvals for purchases, summaries, budget sheets, requisitions, slips, control, purchases.

  • Supervision

Ad hoc

Liaison
  • Liaise with the department regarding maintenance of building, transport matters and various others.
  • Liaise with suppliers, contractors (e.g., cleaning), stakeholders and project co-workers.
  • Protect and support ARC IP and ITC policies.
  • First aid kits, fire-extinguisher services, raising awareness, cooperating with Glen wellness group.
 
Job Requirements
  • National Senior Certificate (Grade 12) with 5 years administrative experience.
  • Administration/Secretarial Diploma will be an added advantage. 
  • Experience in working on ESS and/or SAGE will be an added advantage.
  • Prior experience in project administration will be beneficial.
  • Prior experience in petty cash management will be an advantage.
  • Good Interpersonal skills.

  • Proven record of generating research funding and collaborations.

Job Description
  • Alternative feed sources evaluation: develop, design and conduct pig feeding experiments to assess the impact of alternative feedstuffs (grapeseed) on pig production and performance and the quality of the pork product.
  • Alternative feed sources investigation: candidate will be responsible for analysing byproduct feed sources and preservation methodologies and optimisation for storage.
  • Detailed analysis of alternative feed sources nutrient composition and possible uses and inclusion levels in the feeding of pigs and other monogastrics.
  • Alternative feedstuffs characterisation: identify and characterise the nutritional and bioactive compounds present in alternative feedstuffs that could be beneficial or adverse to performance and growth of animals.
  • Feedstuffs by-product valorisation and preservation: investigate various preservation methodologies to enhance nutrient and bioactive compound bioavailability and preservation.
  • Disseminates technology through seminar presentations internal and external.
  • Compliance with human resource policies and procedures.
  • Compile and submission of work reports to supervisor.
 
Job Requirements
  • A master’s degree (or equivalent) in Animal Science, Agriculture, or a related field.
  • Required to register for PhD studies in Agricultural Sciences or a related field after appointment.
  • A strong academic record.
  • Must have authored or co-authored at least one peer reviewed publication
  • Basic knowledge of pig production is advantageous
  • Practical experience in pig production will be an added advantage
  • Hands-on experience with laboratory techniques.
