The ARC-Central Office (ARC-CO) seeks to appoint a highly skilled, experienced and dynamic person to the following position at Hatfield, Pretoria: 
 
RISK MANAGER 
Salary: (R708 556 to- R1 062 835 p.a) All-inclusive remunerations package 
 
Key Performance Areas: 
• Co-ordinate all Risk Management activities strategic, operational and project level across ARC, 
• Assist with undertaking business risk assessments at all levels of the ARC, i.e., strategic, operational, and programme, and periodically monitor the progress made on risk minimisation, 
• Review and Analyse risk reports monthly, quarterly, etc. as submitted by ARC risk owners, in order to identify and timeously respond to any non-compliances to the ARC Enterprise Risk Management Reporting Framework, 
• Assist with the phased review of the ARC internal control measures, across all its business processes, against “best practice” and where weaknesses are identified, monitor the implementation of recommendations and its compliance, 
• Monitor, evaluate and periodically communicate the status of Risk Management practices in the ARC, 
• Analyse and report on the management of risk exposures to the ARC Corporate Enterprise Risk Management Committee (CERMC) and other similar ARC Governance Structures, 
• Manage business risks by identifying and developing/ reviewing appropriate risk management strategies and policies, 
• Provide inputs into the ARC requisite assurance plan and be involved in co-ordinating outputs to assurance providers, 
• Facilitate activities linked to the ARC Combined Assurance Process, 
• Co-ordinate the ARC acquisition and maintenance of a comprehensive insurance portfolio, 
• In consultation with the supervisor to ensure for effective functioning of the CERMC, 
• Provide inputs and be an integral part of the ARC strategy development and organisational performance management process and systems, i.e. Monitoring and Evaluation, 
 
Requirements: 
• B Degree, with specialization in Risk Management. A Postgraduate Diploma/Degree (Honours /Masters) will be an added advantage, 
• 5 years working experience in risk and insurance management, at a managerial level, business and operational management experience, 
• Experience in implementing and maintaining operational standards or “best practices”, 
• Exposure within strategy, planning, and organisational performance management environments. 
• Budget and Financial Management skills, 
• Proficiency in Ms office suite,

RESEARCH TECHNICIAN: GERMPLASM BANK CURATOR (18 MONTHS FIXED TERM)
Salary: (R247 000 – R371 307) all-inclusive remuneration package p.a
 
Key Performance Areas:
 Laboratory support and sample management: monitoring and maintenance of seed samples,
 Germplasm Bank equipment and facilities, including lists of equipment and details of servicing; keeping detailed logs to ensure adherence to laboratory and field best practice; accession management, including recording of all data in an electronic database of planted nurseries/breeding lines/cultivars and Germplasm Bank accessions, implementing quality control interventions, and producing reports.
 Preparation of seed and seedbed for planting,
 Supervising the planting of nurseries/breeding lines/cultivars.
 Maintenance of the plantings: weeding, pest control, disease control, and watering of plants.
 Supervising the harvesting and threshing of nurseries/breeding lines/cultivars.
 Placing of seed in the drying room, monitoring of seed moisture content, and placing of dried seed in aluminium bags for long-term storage.
 Administration and related to Germplasm bank including stock control for laboratory and Germplasm Bank consumables, health, and safety compliance.
 Capacity development: training of interns, and students in Germplasm bank practice; own capacity development by attending relevant courses and workshops.
 Germplasm Bank equipment and facilities, including lists of equipment and details of servicing; keeping detailed logs to ensure adherence to laboratory best practice; sample management, including recording of all data in an electronic database, implementing quality control interventions and producing reports.
 
Requirements:
• A BSc Hons in any of these fields: Genetics, Botany or Plant Breeding,
• Knowledge and understanding of Germplasm bank operational requirements including the planting of nurseries, maintenance of nurseries, harvesting, threshing, and drying of seeds,
• Long-term storage of seeds, standard laboratory practices, and procedures,
• Operation of an electronic database,

SECURITY INVESTIGATION PROFESSIONAL

Key Performance Areas:
Security Investigation
 Conduct security breaches investigations within the ARC,
 Compile Security Investigation Register and keep it updated,
 Conduct special investigations from Tip-offs from the ARC Fraud Hotline and other related requests for investigation,
 Conducting IT related investigation for loss of laptops,
 Interview all parties and obtain statements,
 Collect, analyse and evaluate the gathered evidence,
 Compile preliminary and final reports with findings and recommendations to management,
 Draft submissions, memorandums and letters emanating from investigations,
 Report on all cases investigated and the outcome,
 Initiate recovery of losses incurred through claims to the service providers for non-performance/ negligence,
 Develop measures to prevent security breaches and to advise management on preventative measures against organisational security threats,
 Manage the Security Incident Register and facilitate reporting of security breaches to SSA, SAPS and GSSC,
 Make follow-ups on the status of criminal investigations,
 Represent the ARC at CCMA and attend Disciplinary cases related to investigations.
 Provide investigative support to the NKP
 
Physical Security
 Provide overall support to the security division,
 Assist in drafting specifications, implementation and monitoring of all security related projects within the ARC,
 Assist with Threat and Risk Assessment (TRA) and Audits,
 
Security Administration
 Assist in the facilitation of the completion of the security clearance application forms (Z204 forms),
 Assist in processing screening request through electronic screening system,
 Represent the ARC on any applicable, appropriate advisory committees, State and sector / industry,
 Provide effective communication channels between ARC and departments such as SSA, DHA and SAPS,
 Compile accurate reports related to the division for management,
 Prepare ad-hoc reports for management or other stakeholders,
 Process payments of all related security service,
 
Compliance
 Ensure that the Minimum Information Security Standards (MISS) and MPSS is adhered to within the environment.
 
Requirements:
 B degree in Security Risk Management/Policing/Forensic or related field,
 Five (5) years’ experience in the security breach investigation and physical security operations,
 PSIRA Grade A -or the ability to acquire professional accreditation within 6 months,
 A valid Code B driver’s licence,
 Vetting Course will be an added advantage,
 Must have the skill and ability to conduct and/or support sensitive investigations involving, personnel, assets and/or proprietary information,
 Experience in vetting fieldwork and pre-employment screening will be advantageous,
 A police or military background is preferred,

 Manages day to day activities at the National Forage Genebank and Herbarium,
