The ARC-Vegetable, Industrial and Medicinal Plants (ARC– VIMP) seeks to appoint a highly skilled, experienced and dynamic person to the following position at Roodeplaat (Pretoria): 
 
FINANCE ASSISTANT 
 
Key Performance Areas: 
 Compile and evaluate the performance report of each project, 
 Prepare financial reports and proof of income reports to the funder, 
 Ensure that audit queries attended to and resolve as soon as possible, 
 Preparation and posting of journals. 
 Prepare General ledger reconciliations on a monthly basis. 
 Manage all externally funded projects to avoid operational losses and report losses to the Institute Finance Manager, 
 Strong Excel skills essential, 
 Prepare and submit project budgets, 
 Ability to work in a team and independently, 
 Ability to work accurately under pressure and to deadlines, 
 Assist project managers with budget revisions, 
 Preferable knowledge of AX, 
 Invoicing external customers, 
 Follow up on outstanding debtors, 
 Proficiency in the MS Office suite. 
 
Requirements: 
 Must have NQF Level 6 in Accounting/ Cost & Management Accounting/ Management Accounting or any relevant qualification, 
 Three years’ experience in Senior accounting role, 
 Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written), 
 Strong problem solving and analytical skills.

The ARC-Grain Crops (ARC– GC) seeks to appoint a highly skilled, experienced and dynamic person to the following position at Potchefstroom: 
 
RESEARCHER (PLANT BREEDING) X2 ARC-GC 
 
Key Performance Areas: 
 Initiate, coordinate, and manages projects, 
 Coordinates project plan with the Research Team Manager, 
 Manages people within projects and ensures optimal utilisation, 
 Compiles and manages project budgets, 
 Plans and co-ordinates technical projects, 
 Manages project facilities, materials, and equipment, 
 Ensures optimal utilization of resources, 
 Strategic planning of future resources, 
 Independently conducts specialist research/technical support, diagnostics, and other services across projects, 
 Manages and ensures compliance to quality standards, 
 Render expert diagnostic, technical and other services and consults at a national /international level, 
 Exploits intellectual property developments and assist in its development, 
 Identifies and pursues new business opportunities, 
 Meet peer norm requirements for specific field of expertise, by recognising authorship or contributions, 
 Magnitude of measurable outcomes, 
 Ensures compliance with SHE/OHS policies and procedures, 
 Develops technical capacity at an appropriate level, 
 Identifies and participates in own learning opportunities and learning of sub-ordinates 
 
Requirements: 
 PhD in Plant Breeding / Molecular Breeding / Genetics with Plant Breeding as a Major, 
 Alternatively MSc in Plant Breeding / Molecular Breeding / Genetics with Plant Breeding as a major plus minimum three (3) years post-qualification experience and three (3) relevant peer reviewed publications, or alternatively one (1) released cultivar in lieu of each publication, 
 Valid driver’s license.

JUNIOR RESEARCHER - EPV 
Key Performance Areas: 
 Molecular diagnostics, 
 Research support in diagnostic assay development for molecular and serological tests, 
 Research support in tick colony maintenance and tick research. 
 
Requirements: 
 BSc (Hons) or MSc degree in Biological Sciences/MTech Veterinary Technology, 
 Three years relevant experience post-degree, 
 SAVC registration, 
 Evidence of peer-reviewed publications (minimum of 1).

Requirements: 
 Ph.D. in any related field of Field Crops (e.g. Crop Science, Agronomy, Planting Breeding, Pathology, Entomology, and Biotechnology), 
 A 5-year post-qualification experience in Research and Development and 5 years in Senior Management or 10 years in the Middle Management level.
