The ARC-Central Office (ARC-CO) seeks to appoint a highly skilled, experienced and dynamic person to the following position at Hatfield, Pretoria:
LEGAL ADVISOR
Key Performance Areas:
Ensure that appropriate and accurate contracts are negotiated, drafted and vetted for the organization’s various transactions and activities.
Assist with dispute resolution matters including managing litigation for and against the organisation.
Assist with maintaining accurate records of internal contract documents and other legal documents.
Providing legal guidance, opinions, advice and support to the different teams relating to matters having legal implications.
Liaise with relevant divisions to ensure that where legal risks have been identified, appropriate courses of action are taken to mitigate such risks;
Providing business-related legal advice and risk management support and opinions on legislation and compliance.
Monitoring and tracking the entire contracts life cycle including assisting with termination, close-out, extensions or renewal according to what’s best for the company.
Provide and interpret legal information, conduct training and awareness on latest developments and generally disseminating appropriate legal information and requirements to staff.
Requirements:
A Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or equivalent bachelor’s degree in law.
Admission as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
At least 3 years post admission experience as a practicing attorney or working in a legal advisory capacity with exposure to contract drafting, litigation, legal research and opinions.
Attention to detail, ability to collaborate effectively with various clients/stakeholders and excellent communication and report writing skills.
Proficiency in Ms Office suite.
Problem-solving, analytical skills and knowledge of the industry within which the ARC operates.
The ability to work under pressure.
Ability to think critically, be assertive and show leadership and decisiveness.

Managerial qualification will be an added advantage,
Excellent communication (written and verbal) and teamwork skills, with an ability to work within multidisciplinary teams,

SENIOR RESEARCHER/RESEARCHER: ANIMAL BREEDING AND GENETICS (RE-ADVERT)
Key Performance Areas:
Research and development in dairy breeding and genetics,
Conducts research and development that contributes to the improvement of the dairy industry with emphasis to small holder farmer development,
Initiates, manages and contributes towards national/international research projects,
Sourcing external funding and engaging in national and international research opportunities,
Managing projects, including writing new project proposals and leading single or multidisciplinary project teams,
Planning and coordinating research in quantitative animal breeding and genetics in alignment with the commercial and small holder dairy industry needs,

PhD Student: INFRUITEC-NIETVOORBIJ
Thematic areas:
Integrated edible coating and cold plasma treatment postharvest treatment: The successful candidates will participate in research focused on understanding the effect of cold plasma on improvement of coating application and coating modification as well as microbial inactivation. The candidate will be working on the optimization of edible coating and cold plasma parameters. The candidates will be tasked with investigating the integrated impact of cold plasma and edible coating on fruit quality, and conduct performance evaluation of the various control strategies along the value chains. Documenting impacts on physical and biochemical quality attributes and changes in proteins expression of fresh produce.
