The ARC-Plant Health and Protection seeks to appoint a highly skilled, experienced and dynamic person to the following position at Vredenburg Campus: Stellenbosch 
 
FACILITIES OFFICER 
Salary (R381 841 – R572 759 p.a) all-inclusive remuneration package 
 
Key Performance Areas: 
 Manage the provision and maintenance of buildings infrastructure including plumbing, 
 Manage outsourced maintenance services including hygiene and security services to ensure service provides delivers according to standard specifications, 
 Management of fleet utilization, 
 Ensure effective assets and contracts management including insurances, 
 Compile facilities budget for the Stellenbosch campus and ensure adherence to the allocated budget, 
 Management of facilities staff, 
 Ensure that facilities comply with OHS regulations, 
 Assist in the allocation of resources to employees to successfully perform their roles e.g. offices, equipment etc, 
 Management of assets, 
 Ensure renewal of new contracts, 
 Management of insurance claims for the Stellenbosch campus. 
 
Requirements: 
 Relevant B Degree or three year national diploma, 
 A minimum of five years’ experience in facilities management, 
 Experience in infrastructure maintenance, 
 Knowledge of security and asset management, 
 Budget and contracts management, 
 People and business management skills, 
 Knowledge of construction/building and OHS regulations, 
 Report writing skills, 
 Proficiency in Ms Office skills, 
 Ability to organise, prioritise and work systematically, 
 Good communication skills (verbal & written), 
 Valid drivers’ licence.

The ARC- Onderstepoort Veterinary Research (ARC– OVR) seeks to appoint a highly skilled, experienced  and dynamic person to the following position at Pretoria: 
 
RESEARCH TEAM MANAGER – PUBLIC HEALTH AND ZOONOSIS (RE-ADVERTISEMENT) 
Salary (R708 556 – R1 062 835 p.a.) all-inclusive remuneration package 
 
Key Performance Areas: 
 Set norms and standards for the Institute’s research, 
 Monitor research outputs and compare with benchmark, 
 Decide on strategic direction of OVR Research, 
 Evaluate scientific presentations, manuscripts, 
 Evaluate applicability of research products and recommend deployment, patents and marketing, 
 Identify and facilitate crosscutting research projects, 
 Coordinate applications for funding within the programme, 
 Undertake strategic management of resources, i.e. Finance, Human, Equipment and Space, 
 Select and support promising, innovative research projects if funds are available,
 Recommend promotion of senior staff in the scientific cadre, 
 Review and approve all research proposals that are sent out, 
 Provide support to the OIE Reference Laboratories, 
 Build capacity mentoring, teaching and supervision. 
 
Requirements: 
 PhD, in the Life Sciences Biochemistry, Molecular Biology or related. 
 7 - 8 Years of experience post PhD in a relevant research environment, academic or private and Includes diagnostic development, 
 Proven international track record obtained research funding, relationships with national and 
International researchers, 
 History of student supervision, include MSc & PhD students Minimum of 20 peer reviewed Publications, 
 Proven experience in project, financial and personnel management, 
 Capability for team management, partnership development and collaboration, 
 Proven experience in networking with national and international clients and stakeholders, 
 SACNASP registration and/or NRF rating at least C level, 
 Valid driver’s license.
