AGRICULTURAL RESEARCH COUNCIL (ARC)
 
The Agricultural Research Council (ARC) is a premier science institution that conducts research with partners, develops human capital and foster innovation in support of the agricultural sector. It provides diagnostic, laboratory, analytical, agricultural engineering services, post-harvest technology development, agrochemical evaluation, consultation and advisory services, food processing technology services as well as various surveys and training interventions. Through its wider network of research institutes and experimental farms, the ARC provides a strong scientific base and a broadly distributed technology transfer capacity to the entire agricultural industry in South Africa.
 
The ARC-Onderstepoort Veterinary Research (ARC–OVR) seeks to appoint a highly skilled, experienced and dynamic person to the following position at Pretoria:
 
RESEARCHER: FOOD & FEED
 
 
Key Performance Areas:
 Initiate, plan, develop relevant research and development projects for funding, and implement projects when approved,
 Manage the research output and diagnostic services of the Feed and Food laboratory including planning, and sourcing of funding,
 Develop budgets, manage, and maintain infrastructure,
 To guide and mentor junior staff and students and to publish popular and peer-reviewed scientific articles,
 Initiate, manage and contribute towards national/international projects,
 Identify and generate Intellectual Property,
 Actively source new national/international research opportunities and write proposals.
 
Requirements:
 PhD in Bacteriology, Biotechnology, Food Microbiology, Microbiology,
 Minimum of 5 years’ related experience specifically knowledge in bacterial diagnostics,
 Professional membership: SAVC registration is compulsory,
 Public speaking, presentations, radio and poster exhibits,
 Scientific publications,
 Examiner, Promoter, Other.
