The ARC-Institute for Fruit, Vine and Wine (ARC-Infruitec-Nietvoorbij) seeks to appoint a highly skilled, experienced and dynamic person to the following position at Stellenbosch
RESEARCH TECHNICIAN: VITICULTURE – RE ADVERT
Key Performance Areas:
Mainly conducts, coordinates and assist with table grape field trials all over South Africa and routine laboratory measurements of the division,
Assist in developing project proposals in line with strategic goals and research themes of the ARC,
Ensure that the allocated personnel and students are mentored, trained, utilized and evaluated in order to achieve the targets of the Programme and ultimately the ARC,
Contribute to the status of the ARC through high quality research findings/products in compliance with expected scientific standards,
Actively assist and participates in the dissemination and marketing of information through publications, conferences and workshops,
Requirements:
BSc Agriculture majoring in Viticulture or National Diploma in Viticulture,
Knowledge and experience in table grape production practices,
Knowledge and experience in laboratory practices,
Preference will be given to applicants with expertise in spectroscopy, HPLC analysis and the Enzyme Robot, as well as practical experience of applying these techniques,
Project management, planning and organizing skills,
Knowledge of human capacity development and financial management,
Good written and verbal communication skills,
Ability to organize, prioritize and work systematically,
Ability and willingness to travel for long periods of time and work overtime,
Experience in report writing,
A valid SA driver’s license.
Proficiency in MS office suite.
