AGRICULTURAL RESEARCH COUNCIL (ARC)
 
The Agricultural Research Council (ARC) is a premier science institution that conducts research with partners, develops human capital and foster innovation in support of the agricultural sector. It provides diagnostic, laboratory, analytical, agricultural engineering services, post-harvest technology development, agrochemical evaluation, consultation and advisory services, food processing technology services as well as various surveys and training interventions. Through its wider network of research institutes and experimental farms, the ARC provides a strong scientific base and a broadly distributed technology transfer capacity to the entire agricultural industry in South Africa. 
 
The ARC–Animal Production (ARC-AP) seeks to appoint a highly skilled, experienced and dynamic person to the following position at Roodeplaat and Leliefontein: 
 
GENERAL LABOURER: 1 Position at Range and Forage Science at Roodeplaat and 2 Positions at Leliefontein—nine months Fixed Term Contract (External Project Funded Positions)
 
 
Key Performance Areas: 
 Harvesting Calobota seeds; 
 Assist with planting of forage production trials; 
 Assist with maintenance (irrigation, fertilisation, weeding) of production trials; 
 Data collection from forage production trials; 
 Collection of forage materials for chemical analyses; 
 Sending plant samples from Leliefontein to Gauteng and Western Cape . 
 
Requirements:
 Grade 12 will be an added advantage; 
 3-5 years' relevant job experience; 
 A valid SA driver’s license is advantageous; 
 Good communication and interpersonal skills; 
 Prepared to work on weekends and public holidays; 
 Ability to do routine and physically demanding work, in adverse weather conditions.
