The Agricultural Research Council (ARC) is a premier science institution that conducts research with partners, develops human capital and foster innovation in support of the agricultural sector. It provides diagnostic, laboratory, analytical, agricultural engineering services, post-harvest technology development, agrochemical evaluation, consultation and advisory services, food processing technology services as well as various surveys and training interventions. Through its wider network of research institutes and experimental farms, the ARC provides a strong scientific base and a broadly distributed technology transfer capacity to the entire agricultural industry in South Africa. 
 
The ARC-Institute for Fruit, Vine and Wine (ARC-Infruitec-Nietvoorbij) seeks to appoint a highly skilled, experienced and dynamic person to the following position at Stellenbosch:

FARM SUPERVISOR: IRRIGATION AND AFFLUENT WATER MANAGEMENT 
 
Key Performance Areas: 
• Oversee a production team and assist the Farm Manager and other management staff with day-to-day management of the farm. 
• Manage Farm Assistants and other employees assigned to him. 
• Assist with Performance Management of employees under direct supervision. 
• Provide support to Research Projects. 
• Oversee all aspects of irrigation installation, operation, and maintenance. 
• Drive a tractor with Trailor to monitor and manage irrigation. 
• Assist with any emergencies including bush and vegetation fires after hours. 
• Assist other supervisors/ staff members with their day-to-day activities on request. 
• Work abnormal hours due to operational requirements. 
• Opening of sewerage system and unclog drains. 
• Do monthly electricity and water meter reading. 
 
Requirements: 
A National Diploma in Agriculture/ Farming with 3 years’ experience in farming operations. 
Grade 12 with at least 5 years work experience on application of irrigation and water management system on a farm. 
Computer literacy. 
Valid Code B Licence.
