Introduction
We are currently recruiting for a Technical Group Leader: Technical Assessment to join our team. 
 
Job Purpose: 
To lead and manage technical assessment processes of Agrément South Africa for evaluating the fitness for purpose of non-standardized construction products, materials, and systems against performance-based criteria.
 
Duties & Responsibilities
Manage Technical Assessment Function:
  • Lead the Agrement Technical Assessment Division’s in the achievement of its core processes
  • Manage the team of technical evaluators/ assessors to undertake evaluation of client’s (services/ products/ systems) etc. for fit- for- purpose assessment
  • Provide function level communication with clients, staff and stakeholders
  • Manage the deployment, motivation and effective utilization of manpower resources
  • Ensure that career development plan and KRAs are in place and outputs are approved and completed as required for all direct reports
  • Ensure that the Division is effectively resourced to achieve its mandate
  • Responsible for overall performance of the function by ensuring the achievement of expected turnaround and delivery service levels
  • Provide input and guidance into the formulation of strategic planning for Agrement technical assessment processes
 
Technical Assessment:
Manage the execution of the technical process of Agrement certification by:
  • Define, investigate and analyze technical assessment problems leading to an agreed definition of the problem to be addressed
  • Design or develop technical assessment procedures and best practices
  • Comprehend and apply advanced knowledge (principles, specialist knowledge, jurisdiction and local knowledge) to technical assessment activities
  • Manage all technical assessment activities
  • Ensure clear communication within the technical assessment unit and with others
  • Recognize and address the reasonably foreseeable social, cultural and environmental effects of technical assessment activities
  • Meet and ensure adherence to all legal and regulatory requirements and protect the health and safety of person in the course of technical assessment activities
  • Ensure all technical assessment activities are conducted ethically
  • Exercise sound judgement in the course of technical assessment assurance activities
  • Responsible for making decisions on all technical assessment activities
  • Undertake professional development activities sufficient to maintain and enhance competence in technical assessment.
  • Provide input and guidance to strategic management regarding technical assessment policy
 
Adhere to Agrement’s core process Policy, Procedures and Standards by
Determine suitable, creative and innovative testing systems and evaluation/ assessment/ evaluation processes
  • Lead projects on behalf of clients, shepherd the technical evaluation through various phases (of testing/ assessment/ evaluation/ etc.) to ultimate issuing of an Agrement Certificate which is internationally recognized by WFTAO (World Federation of Technical Assessment Organisation)
  • Ensure that the necessary steps/ process involved in the certification process are followed as set down by Agrement requirements
  • Assist the EM in the management of the competence area/ agency
  • Ensure that processes / evaluations are done in line with project management principles – ensuring that all processes are completed within specified budget, brief and timeframe
  • Maintain and manage links with existing clients and identify prospective clients who are able to make use of the competence area services to ensure the sustainability of the business; as well as raising the profile of Agrement South Africa nationally and internationally
  • Implementing a business plan for operational and sustainable growth & robustness of the technical evaluation group
  • Participate in the certification approval process as a member of the Agrement Technical Committee
  • When required, present recommendations to Board for approval of applications reviewed successfully by the Agrément Technical Committee
 
Knowledge
Provide and develop practical level of expertise and knowledge within Agrement’s core business by:
  • Seek training and develop own skills
  • Ensuring staff development, strategic Human Capital Development (profiles, capacity and development)
  • Initiate training interventions required by the technical staff
  • Network and maintain links with specialists required to execute technical; testing functions
  • Monitor industry changes/developments and ensure that the Division is prepared for these developments
  • Deliver technical presentations as an industry level expert
 
Quality Assurance
Support the implementation and adherence to Agrement’s technical Quality Assurance process by:
  • Ensure that technical outputs of the technical team are of high standard and high quality so that the credibility of the certification process is maintained
  • Implementation of compliance with appropriate management and system requirements
  • Promote a culture of excellence with regard to the application of Quality Assurance in the Technical Division
  • Provide operational support and guidance to Technical Group Leader Quality Assurance role
 
Research & Development
Support and promote ongoing Research and Development practices within the function by:
  • Ensure that innovative and new technical practices and developments are communicated and brought to the attention of clients utilizing the certification process
  • Promote the importance of innovation and Research and Development initiatives within Agrement and with its clients and stakeholders
  • Promote a culture of excellence with regard to Research and Development in the Technical Division
  • Provide operational support and guidance to Technical Group Leader Research and Development role
 
Desired Experience & Qualification
Minimum
  • A Degree in built environment discipline
  • 8 Years’ experience
  • Professional registration
Ideal:
  • Honours/ postgraduate degree
  • 10 Years’ experience

Introduction
We are currently recruiting for a Chairperson of the Audit and Risk Committee to join our team on a 3 year fixed-term contract. 
 
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Fulfil oversight responsibilities related to governance, information technology governance, risk management, internal controls, legal compliance, external and internal audit, management accounts, and annual financial statements
  • Assist the Board in executing its responsibilities and contribute to building trust and confidence in the organization's management
  • Regulate and fulfil all responsibilities as outlined in the Audit and Risk Committee Charter, chair the Audit and Risk committees, ensure timely distribution of adequate information to the Board, and be responsible for the management, development, and effective performance of the Audit and Risk Committee, providing leadership to the Board in all aspects of the Committee's work

Desired Experience & Qualification
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Candidates must possess a B Degree in Accounting and be a qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) for appointment as Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee of Agrѐment South Africa
  • Additionally, ten years of executive experience in financial accounting and finance and executive management expertise in governance, risk management, and internal controls are required
  • An added advantage is verifiable participation in at least three oversight committees
  • Applicants should be members of a recognized professional body, demonstrating a public interest in improving citizens' services
 
Knowledge:
  • Applicants must have exposure to financial accounting, taxation, auditing, and management finance, as well as extensive experience in corporate governance, internal and external auditing, Information Technology Governance, Information Security, Business Continuity Management, and risk management
  • Candidates should be independent and well-versed in their roles as Audit and Risk Committee members, staying current with developments in the internal and external audit and risk management profession
  • Understanding major financial reporting and governance issues is crucial for directing the Committee's focus on addressing high-risk areas

We are currently recruiting for a Specialist Research and Development to join our team. 
 
Job Purpose: 
To perform Research and Development investigations and analysis in the Technical Division of Agrement South Africa to evaluate the fitness of non-standardized construction products, materials, and systems against performance-based criteria.
 
Duties & Responsibilities
Research and Development
  • Perform Research and Development within the Technical Division
  • Provide research support to Agrément South Africa's Technical Services Department
  • Initiate and carry out research projects concerning the performance-in-use of innovative building technologies
  • Compile and present research reports to internal committees of the Board
  • Conduct feasibility studies and develop business models to inform new business lines
  • Market and promote Agrément certified innovative products and systems through stakeholder engagements
  • Develop and maintain relationships and networks with international, national, and provincial research institutes, institutions of higher learning, researchers within the public, private and the built environment sector
  • Provide support and participate in Agrément’s Industry Advisory Committee
  • Verification of Agrément's Directory of Certificates
  • Develop and maintain certification schemes
  • Design surveys for division-wide priorities and initiatives
  • Conduct document review, organisation, and quality control of data acquisition to draw relevant conclusions and direct research activities
  • Determine the performance-in-use of Agrément certified products and systems through market and usage analysis
Technical Assessment
  • Ascertain whether the necessary steps/ process involved in the certification process being followed by Agrement requirements can be improved
  • Identify any new and innovative processes or developments being used by clients
  • Participate in the certification approval process as a member of the Agrement Technical Committee representing R&D when required
  • Develop and review Agrément's performance criteria
Quality Assurance
  • Support the implementation and adherence to Agrement’s quality assurance Policy, Procedures and Standards
  • Ensure that technical outputs of the R&D technical team reviewed are of high standard and high quality so that the credibility of the certification process is maintained
  • Implementation of compliance with appropriate management and system requirements
Knowledge
  • Provide and develop a level of R&D expertise and knowledge by:
  • Seek training and develop own skills
  • Supporting staff development
  • Provide training and advice on R&D related topics to the technical staff
  • Network and maintain links with R&D specialists in the Built Environment
  • Monitor industry changes/developments and ensure that the Technical Division is aware of these developments
  • Deliver technical presentations as an R&D Specialist in the Built Industry
Ad-Hoc Duties
  • Perform any responsible tasks given by the R&D Group Leader
  • Participation in Bid Evaluation Committees
  • Marketing and promotion of ASA-certified products and systems
  • Stakeholder relations development and management of industry partners (at international, national, and provincial level)
