INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR: KZN PUBLIC
WEALTH FUND BUSINESS PLAN

The Moses Kotane Institute (MKI) is looking to appoint an experienced and suitably qualified South African Citizen to provide the services of - Independent Contractor – KZN Public Wealth Fund Business Plan. The Independent Contractor is required to assist the organisation’s Economics and Statistical Services Unit.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must have a minimum Honours Degree in Finance/Economics/Financial Economics/Actuarial Science/ Development Studies or a related field. A Master’s degree in Finance/Economics/ Financial Economics/ Development Studies is a distinct advantage. Knowledge of the KwaZulu-Natal economy’s sectors and its material resources. Driver’s license. At least 3 years’ experience in drafting business plans. Prior experience in financial services industry, an economics environment and dealing with government entities and departments. A broad understanding of strategies and initiatives that are aimed at boosting South Africa’s economy, more specifically as they relate to KwaZulu-Natal. Ability to use MS Office Suite.
CORE COMPENTENCIES
Financial and economic research, business plan drafting. Use of MS Office Suite; Report writing, Analysis of findings; Presentation skills; Independence; Attention to detail and thoroughness. A sense of urgency. Probing and initiative. Ability to build capacity within others.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Identify and engage critical stakeholders relevant to the establishment of a KZN Wealth Fund to understand the background to the initiative. Obtain and engage all relevant documentation written on the establishment of a KZN Public Wealth Fund. Structure a Business Plan for establishing a KZN Public Wealth Fund with all the relevant areas of a business plan included. Draft a bankable business plan for the KZN Public Wealth Fund and present it to relevant stakeholder committees/platforms.
TERMS OF APPOINTMENT
The Independent Contractor will sign a 4-month contract remunerated at R384 per hour.
