MATTHEW GONIWE SCHOOL OF LEADERSHIP AND GOVERNANCE (MGSLG) Matthew Goniwe School of Leadership and Governance (MGSLG) is a Section 21 organisation in Vrededorp, Johannesburg. MGSLG is an entity of the Gauteng Department of Education and was established to research, develop, implement and evaluate cutting-edge capacity-building programmes in the areas of school governance, leadership, management and teacher development to empower school governors, principals, deputy principals, HoDs and educators for schools in the Gauteng Province. MENTORS AND COACHES: LEADERSHIP, MANAGEMENT AND GOVERNANCE (12 POSITIONS AVAILABLE) REFERENCE NUMBER: LMG/2024/1 DURATION: 1 Year NATURE OF CONTRACT: Temporary Employment/Independent Contractor CLOSING DATE: 11 March 2024 JOB SUMMARY ⦁ To ensure effective and efficient delivery of Leadership and Management intervention and support. ⦁ To ensure overall impact of the intervention in the learning community for the period of employment so that data gathered can ⦁ be utilized in future to modify intervention approaches where needed. ⦁ To gauge the impact of training in the work environment. ⦁ To offer continuous post-training support on SGB matters affecting school JOB REQUIREMENTS The incumbent must be available to work over weekends and during the week. He/she must be willing to travel across the province to various schools to provide onsite mentoring/coaching and support. The incumbent should have knowledge and experience in education, have proven results of turning problematic situations in education around through dynamic and change leadership strategies. He/she needs to be able to plan, guide and advise the SGBs and SMT on 21st Century Leadership and Governance in order to assist schools become dynamic learning environment. In addition, the incumbent should have experience of online facilitation. KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Responsible for mentoring, support and development of School Based SMT & SGB, and communication with District Officials to ensure that these stakeholders are able to support and function effectively in schools. • May be required to play a Monitoring and Evaluation role during training. • Responsible for compilation of reports • Responsible for conducting and analyzing baselines and impact assessments. • Responsible for a high standard of mentoring and support • Present and promote MGSL in a professional manner • Responsible for ensuring impact of mentorship programme is evident in school performance. QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES ⦁ Minimum Qualification is a relevant Honours degree, however all additional Qualifications in Education pertinent to Leadership and Management or relevant qualifications in the sector with equivalent field knowledge will be an added advantage. ⦁ Any certification in Adult Facilitation will be an added advantage. ⦁ Maximum of 5 years’ experience in a leadership and/or management position at school or within the Education Department. ⦁ Incumbents who have been principals of well-performing schools would be at an advantage. ⦁ Must have effective communication and writing skills as well as people skills. ⦁ Must have good computer skills as well as report writing skills and experience in compiling reports. ⦁ Must have good knowledge of Microsoft Office programmes e.g. MS Word & MS PPT, TEAMS etc. ⦁ Must be willing to travel to far-reaching schools within Gauteng. ⦁ Must be good at planning, time management and administration and have experienced a school environment during the Covid19 Pandemic period.
