The Hessequa Municipality requires the service of suitable person in the following permanent vacancy: SMALL PLANT OPERATOR: STREETS AND STORMWATER – ALBERTINIA (Ref: T385) T4 – R115 332,00 to R145 464,00 gross salary per annum. Requirements: Grade 9 (Must be able to read and write) • Must be fit and healthy • Able to work in harsh weather conditions • Three months’ experience in a similar position, will serve as recommendation. Duties: Maintain municipal roads • Remove weeds • Clean stormwater pipes, channels, manholes and catch pits • Install and replace stormwater pipes • Operate bitumen sprayer, compactor, jackhammer, tar cutter and compressor • Load and unload equipment and material • Remove weeds on sidewalks and open spaces • Repair potholes • Maintain buildings • Clean stores, machines and vehicles • Maintain municipal roads. Duties: Daily inspection of sewerage manholes • Open sewerage blockages • Install water and sewerage connections • Load and unload material and equipment • Digging and backfilling of trenches per hand • Clean equipment and sludge beds • Install water meters, fire hydrants and valves • Disconnect water services with regards to non-payments • Repair pipe bursts • Maintain and clean sewerage pump stations • Spray poison in manholes.
