The Executive Assistant – Executive Manager: OPO role will report directly to the Executive Manager: OPO and forms part of the Office of the Principal Officer Division. The Executive Assistant – Executive Manager: OPO will be required to provide support to the Executive Manager: OPO through the implementation of the following Key Performance Areas (KPAs):
- Diary management
- Organise detailed travel plans, itineraries and agendas.
- Booking attendance of event, conferences, and seminars both domestic and internationally
- Coordination of divisional meetings including preparation, tracking and circulation of meeting documents, minutes and actions
- Circulation of office communication and coordination of delivery of services
- Drafting and circulation of communication on behalf of Executive Manager: OPO
- Support key OPO divisional projects
- Coordinate Office of the Principal Officers Events calendar
- Change Management Agent for the Office of the Principal Officer Division
- Communication and roll-out of outreach activities
- Support Executive Manager: OPO intervention towards driving integration across the Scheme
Qualification Requirements:
- Minimum two (2) year qualification in Administration or Secretarial Studies, or equivalent NQF Level 5
- A diploma/degree in strategy/business administration/project management or a related field will an added advantage
- At least 2 years’ experience in an Executive/ Personal Assistant role
- Experience within a strategy and/or project management environment would be advantageous
- Proficient in computer software such as Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point), Adobe Acrobat
- Experience with office administrative systems e.g. HR/ Procurement Systems
- Excellent written English and the ability to communicate at all levels

The position of Medical Advisor: Clinical Healthcare Policy is vacant. The Medical Advisor: Clinical Healthcare Policy will report directly to the Senior Manager Medical Advisory Services and forms part of the Healthcare Management Division. The position is based at Head Office in Pretoria.
The total remuneration package for this position is negotiable based on qualifications and experience.
The Medical Advisor: Clinical Healthcare Policy will be required to assist and support the Senior Manager Medical Advisory through the implementation of the following Key Performance Areas (KPAs):
- Manage the administrative function in the Medical Advisory Services business unit
- Manage and coordinate the conducting of systemic reviews of good clinical practice guidelines and health technology assessments; to ensure that Scheme funding decisions are based on best practice. This activity aims to ensure these elements are sound and compliant with the Medical Schemes Act and Regulations and the Scheme Rules.
- Contribute to and conduct targeted research into local and international clinical guidelines and funding policies.
- Critical review and analysis of current cost drivers and trends and compare with those of local and international sources for best practice.
- Assist in critically analysing medical literature and use of evidence-based principles to review and generate enhancements in funding protocols.
- Assist in the management and monitoring of clinical cost targets
- Assist in developing and maintaining adequate knowledge of data handling and interpretation of information translating interventions.
- Support the Medical Advisory Services Unit in the Scheme’s Ex gratia ratification cases in researching evidence-based medicine
- Support the Medical Advisory Services Unit in the Scheme’s product development and benefit design activities
- Manage the review of the Scheme’s funding policies, protocols and formularies
- Manage the Scheme’s Maternity Benefit Programme
- Chair and coordinate monthly SPN meetings
- Perform Service Level Agreement quarterly site visits
- Support in the management and monitoring SPN's to implement and give results within set targets
- Support in the management of the divisional budget in line with budget allocation
- Assist in improving member value
- Monitor project/programme in conjunction with the internal Project Management unit of the Scheme
- Ensure that all relevant projects are carried out and finalised
- Liaise with GEMS SPNs on operational matters
- Represent the Healthcare Management Division at SPN and Stakeholder Engagements
- Represent the Healthcare Management division in internal forum
- Support the Scheme’s Clinical Advisory Expert Panels
- Assist in the process for development and maintenance of Medical Advisory Services standard operating procedures and policies.
- Assist the Medical Advisory Services in providing clinical support to Healthcare Management and the Scheme’s other divisions
- Assist in providing clinical support the Scheme’s Disease Risk Management Programmes
- Assess and mitigate risk with the Medical Advisory Services Unit
- Manage relationship building with key stakeholders
- Monitor and evaluate clinical cost targets
- Manage and assist staff in developing Personal Development Plans, Training Plan and succession plan in accordance to HR policy Diary management
Qualification Requirements:
- Minimum MBChB
- Qualifications in Health Technology Assessment or Evidence-Based Medicine would be advantageous
- At least 5 years work experience in the healthcare funding / medical scheme industry with at least 2 years at manager/supervisor level
- Previous experience in a Health Policy Unit will be advantageous
- Experience in the evaluation of health technology assessments would be advantageous
- Must have experience in the development and presentation of management reports
- A good understanding of coding (Nappi, Tariffs, ICD10, CPT4, UPFS and more)
- A good understanding of the South African Healthcare Industry
- A good understanding of the Medical Schemes Act
- The ability to conduct research using a variety of academic and market-related resources
