FILM AND PUBLICATION BOARD (FPB)
The Film and Publication Board (FPB) is a statutory body, with its main task being the classification of films, videos, DVDs, computer games and certain publications for their suitable age viewership. Our mission is to be a “credible and visible content classification authority” and we require the following individual to carry this forward at our head office in Centurion, Pretoria:
CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
Remuneration Package: R1 700 000.00 CTC per annum
36 month contract position
Reporting to the Council, the Chief Executive Officer will implement and strengthen the vision and mission of the FPB, be responsible for the strategy development, organisational performance reporting, public awareness and stakeholder relationships, financial management and internal controls, legislative compliance and development of the people and culture of the FPB.
Requirements:

Requirements:
- An appropriate Master’s degree preferably in business management and administration – equivalent to NQF Level 9 or higher.
- A minimum of 10 years relevant experience in an Executive management position – at least five years at a similar level of executive accountability.
- Experience in managing and leading executive portfolios.
- Proven track record in the development and implementation of strategy and policy aligned to the achievement of organisational objectives.
- Knowledge and understanding of the legislation governing the Film and Publications Board, as well as legislation aimed at the protection of children.
- Experience at a strategic level in the digital, online, film, media and publications industry.
- Working knowledge and exposure to a regulatory environment and relevant consumer protection matters.
- An understanding of disruptive technological developments and how they influence the media and films industry.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to develop, nurture and promote an innovative working environment.
- Experience in change management and organisational transformation initiatives.
- Strong senior management-level experience and ability – strategic planning, performance information reporting, management of public sector governance and compliance frameworks, financial and risk management, staff management, project management etc.
- Experience in public administration will be an added advantage.
Additional Requirements:
- Knowledge and understanding of the PFMA.
- Deep understanding of the South African media landscape.
- Mature communication, sharp analytical and good interpersonal skills.
- Traveling and working extra hours are essential requirements for the position.
Chief Operations Officer
Remuneration Package: R 1 207 925.00 CTC per annum
36 month contract position
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Operations Officer will be responsible for providing vision and strategic leadership to the FPB’s Operations Division and contributing to the strategic decision making and operational planning processes of the organisation.
This post will be accountable for classification of content, compliance monitoring in respect of content regulation and child protection issues, associated client support activities, adherence to relevant legislation and legal frameworks, performance information reporting, monitoring and evaluation and the development of appropriate legal, compliance and operational policies.
Requirements:
- A Post Graduate qualification in Business Management or similar qualification
- Demonstration of strong operational experience
- Strong Senior Management level skills and ability - strategic planning, performance information reporting, management of Public Sector governance frameworks, financial and risk management, staff management and budget control.
- Good negotiation skills
- Strong policy development skills
- Analytical thinking, with good communication skills (verbal and written)
- Good interpersonal skills
- The ability to work under pressure
- 8 years operation management experience, of which three should have been at Senior Management level.
Additional Requirements:
- Knowledge and understanding of the PFMA.
- Deep understanding of the South African media landscape and a classification regime.
- Understanding of classification of games
- Excellent written and analytical skills
- Mature communication and good interpersonal skills.
- Traveling and working extra hours are essential requirements for this position.
Chief Information Officer
Remuneration Package: R 1 100 000.00 CTC
36 month contract position
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Information Officer will be responsible for providing vision and strategic IT leadership for developing and implementation of IT Systems in support of the FPB business operations and requirements to improve cost effectiveness, service quality and business development.
This post is accountable for the medium and long term strategic development of information systems in line with the FPBs mandate and operations. Prepare annual ICT objectives, budget and policies and implement the FPBs digital agenda.
Requirements:
- A Post Graduate Degree in ICT or Information systems (NQF Level 8).
- 8 years ICT management experience, of which three should have been at a Senior Management level.
- Strong Senior Management level skills and ability - strategic planning, performance information reporting, management of Public Sector ICT governance frameworks, financial and risk management, staff management and budget control and project management.
- Provide leadership to IT team within the Business Unit.
- In-depth knowledge of data administration and management processes.
- Oversee the technological infrastructure (networks and computer systems) in the FPB to ensure optimal performance.
- Internal and external IT environment management.
- Monitor changes in the technology sector and discover ways the FPB can improve and develop its IT systems.
- Identification of new and emerging hardware, software and communication technologies.
- Develop and control the IT budget and ensure that the Business Unit has all the resources required to meet its objectives.
- Establish policies and procedures that promote the FPB culture and vision.
- Conduct performance reviews of direct reports in a prudent manner.
Additional Requirements:
Knowledge and understanding of the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA).
Mature communication (written and verbal), sharp analytical and good interpersonal skills. Good negotiation skills. The ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
