IT INFRASTRUCTURE SUPPORT ANALYST 
CEF SOC 
CEF is a Schedule 2 state owned diversified energy company reporting to the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy. The Mandate of CEF is to contribute to the security of energy supply of South Africa and the Region through exploration, acquisition, development, marketing and strategic partnership. It is derived from the CEF Act (No 38 of 1977) and the Ministerial directives issued thereafter. 
 
REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE 
5 – 6 years of which 3 years must have/be performing similar function i.e. IT systems Administrator or Engineer 
Solid experience on the following: 
 Windows Server 2012 or above 
 Microsoft Exchange 2016 or above, 
 Active Directory, DNS, DHCP and Group Policies 
 VMware vSphere and ESXi Server 
 Experience with BPM, Sage and VIP payroll (Advantage) 
  • Matric (NQF Level 4) 
  • Microsoft Certified IT Professional training 
  • National Diploma (NQF Level 6) or Bachelor’s degree (NQF Level 7) as essential. 
  • Honours or post graduate diploma (NQF Level 8) as an added advantage.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS 
Infrastructure Management 
 Install and configure software and hardware 
 Manage network servers and technology tools 
 Set up accounts and workstations 
 Monitor performance and maintain systems according to requirements 
 Troubleshoot issues and outages 
 Ensure security through access controls, backups, anti-virus and firewalls 
 Upgrade systems with new releases and models 
 Develop expertise to train staff on new technologies 
 Capacity planning for the CEF infrastructure. 
 Manage and administer the storage environment. 
 Manage the virtualized server environment 
 Manage racking systems and cabling 
 Assist with architecting, implementing and managing storage systems, including SAN and NAS devices 
 Provide technical documentation on the SAN environment 
 Ensure compliance to all information security policies and procedures 
 Perform monthly reports on telephone usage 
 
Helpdesk Support 
 Log calls and assign problems to the relevant IT personnel 
 Resolve problems regarding the desktop environment, inclusive of PC hardware and software, desk phones, network support (switches, wireless), Video Conferencing, and printers. 
 Install and configure user devices such as laptop, tablets, and printers 
 Install and configure computer hardware operating systems and applications 
 Unlock user accounts 
 Install phone devices and configure changes for new users. 
 
IT procurement and Finance 
 Develop scope of work for procurement of IT goods or services 
 Create requisitions on BPM. 
 Prepare invoices for payment and submit to finance 
 
Backups
 Provide assistance with Disaster Recovery Solution 
 Perform backups of workstations and servers using Veeam and Cibecs 
 Perform daily monitoring and management of the backups. 
 Monitor backup jobs, execute restore jobs, troubleshoot failed jobs, and initiate corrective action. 
 Prepare backup tapes for offsite storage, this include packaging, labelling, tape rotation, and backup register. 
 Update backup procedure manual as and when required 
 
IT Asset inventory 
 Keep updated IT assets inventory 
 Record all IT assets movements 
 Complete transfer forms and update IT assets register 
 
Access Control and CCTV 
 Ensure that CCTV and access control maintenance activities are performed 
 Visitor access management 
 Implement relevant upgrades to CCTV and Access Control systems as and when required. 
 Ensure the infrastructure has been allocated sufficient resources to maintain the proper running of the systems 
 
Network Management 
 Ensure that the network switches and network routers/equipment remain fully operational. 
 Manage the WAN network. 
 Assist in the implementation of major network upgrades (switched, servers, routers etc). 
 Management of the wireless environment. 
 Firewall management. 
 Implementation and ongoing administration of monitoring alerts and creating periodic uptime and problem reports. 
 KEMP load balancer administration. 
 
Email Security Management 
 Exchange server administration duties. 
 Perform email archiving and security duties. 
 Implementation of email archiving and security solutions. 
 Renewal of SSL and domain renewals.

GROUP BUSINESS PERFORMANCE AND PLANNING ANALYST

REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE 
 Minimum 10 years of which 3 years must be at Managerial experience 
 Matric (NQF Level 4) and Bachelor’s degree/BTech Degree and Honours Degree/ Equivalent (NQF Level 8) 
 Master’s Degree (NQF Level 9) in the relevant field as an added advantage. 
 
DESIRED ADDITIONAL SKILLS/ COMPETENCIES 
Knowledge of the Local Government Act, PMFA Act and the DOE Policy Guidelines |Demonstrated understanding of and experience relating to Corporate Planning as it applies to Local Government |Broad knowledge of all facets of Energy Sector operations in order to be effective when providing advice and guidance with service reviews |Broad knowledge of management theory and application of Organisational Performance measurements |Specialist knowledge and skills in the application of performance management principles and principles of continuous improvement |Ability to research and evaluate innovative practices and recommend best options |High level research, analytical and problem solving skills in order to assist in the resolution of complex organisational challenges |Sound knowledge of budgeting and relevant accounting and financial procedures. 
 
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS 
Corporate strategy formulation and development 
 Analyse the company vision and direction 
 Develop and propose the overall corporate business strategy 
 Ensure that all new business opportunities align with the approved corporate strategy 
 Establish appropriate methodologies for corporate strategy and planning 
 Lead and manage the strategic planning process for the CEF 
 Provide direction and coordinate the development and review of the strategic plan 
 Manage the alignment of strategies and goals within the CEF group 
 Develop and propose strategies and policies 
 Implement approved policies and procedures 
 Monitor and evaluate the relevance of policies and procedures 
 Develop and update business plans 
 
Corporate Planning 
 Coordinate the compilation of annual corporate plan 
 Provide guidance to subsidiaries regarding the compilation of corporate plans as required 
 Identify key business drivers for scenario development 
 Develop scenarios to help management to understand future uncertainties and options 
 Coordinate long term planning inputs from departments, divisions and subsidiaries 
 Obtain relevant economic, legal, government and environmental information 
 Test long term plans against scenarios 
 
Strategic Support 
 Provide strategic support to the CEO and senior management by: 
  • Providing advice on relevant policy objectives 
  • Providing technical input to support management decision making 
  • Developing models and scenario plans to support decision making processes 
 
Business and Economic Benchmarking and Modelling 
 Obtain information on key economic indicators/ratios 
 Develop investment criteria 
 Provide inputs into project selection. 
 Test scenarios against industry best practice. 
 Analyse internal and external environment factors 
 Evaluate and report on national and international trends and statistics 
 Design and implement interventions/programmes to introduce best practice. 
 
Strategic Performance Management 
 Mange the performance of the company by: 
  • Developing and implementing performance monitoring, evaluation and reporting systems for the CEF 
  • Leading the process of monitoring, evaluating and reporting on the performance of CEF in line with agreed measures and standards 
  • Managing the performance reporting process in order to ensure measurability, accuracy, validity, reliability and timeliness of submissions 
  • Making submissions and presentations to relevant stakeholders on the details contained in the performance reports 
 Ensure that a CEF Economic model is developed and communicated with documented premises and assumptions 
 Maintain group performance database systems
