The ARC-Animal Production (ARC-AP) seeks to appoint a highly skilled, experienced, and dynamic person to the following position at Irene Pretoria. 
 
RESEARCH TEAM MANAGER: MEAT SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY 
(RE-ADVERT)
 
Key Performance Areas: 
 Provides scientific leadership in meat science and technology research and development. 
 Manages the quality of science of the research programme including maintaining the quality of accepted scientific standards of excellence. 
 Plans and coordinates specialised research within a single or multi-disciplinary team. 
 Publishes peer-reviewed and semi-scientific articles. 
 Renders specialised analytical and scientific services. 
 Markets the research programme through the establishment of appropriate national and international networks and partnerships. 
 Builds and maintains relationships with national and international stakeholders and strategic partners to secure research funding. 
 Manages development of capacity and appropriate succession plan for the research team. 
 Identifies the resource requirements (e.g., equipment and material) for projects and manages them accordingly. 
 
Requirements: 
 PhD. Meat Science and Technology or related field. 
 At least 8-10 years post PhD experience in meat science and related discipline.
 Minimum of 20 scientific publications. 
 Proven track record of generating external income. 
 Proven track record of building national and international partnerships and networks. 
 Proven track record of strategic and operational planning skills and expertise.
 NRF rating of at least C1 will be an added advantage. 
 Registration with a scientific and professional body will be an added advantage. 
 Proficiency in MS Office Suite. 
 A valid South African Code B (08) drivers’ licence.

The ARC-Grain Crops (ARC-GC) seeks to appoint a highly skilled, experienced, and dynamic person to the following position at Potchefstroom.
 
SENIOR RESEARCHER: AGRONOMY 
 
Key Performance Areas: 
• Project Management/Coordination Initiates, coordinates, and manages projects. 
• Coordinates project plan with the Research Team Manager. 
• Manages people within projects and ensures optimal utilization. 
• Compiles and manages project budgets. 
• Research Support, Diagnostic, and other resources. 
• Plans and co-ordinates technical projects. 
• Manages project facilities, material, and equipment. 
• Ensures optimal utilization of resources. 
• Strategic planning of future resources. 
• Independently conducts specialist research/technical support, diagnostics, and other services across projects. 
• Manages and ensures compliance to quality standards. 
• Technology Transfer: Renders expert diagnostic, technical and other services and consults at national/international level. 
• Exploits intellectual property developments and assists in its development. 
• Identifies and pursue new business opportunities. 
• Scientific status requirements: meet peer norm requirements for specific field of expertise by recognising authorship or contributions.

RESEARCHER: CROP PROTECTION PATHOLOGY (RE-ADVERT) 
 
Key Performance Areas: 
• Initiates, manages and contributes towards national projects. 
• Identifies the need for human resources in projects and manages the allocation resources. 
• Accountable for compiling and managing the project budget. 
• Actively sources new national research opportunities and writes proposals. 
• Plans and co-ordinates research with single or multi-disciplinary team. 
• Identifies the need for resources (equipment and material) in project(s) and manages them accordingly. 
• Conducts research. 
• Manages data capture, analysis, interpretations and recommendations. 
• Compiles detailed reports and seeks approval for final reports. 
• Renders diagnostic and advisory services at a national level. 
• Aware of intellectual Property opportunities. 
• Participates in the marketing and disseminating of information (seminars, workshops, courses, radio, TV etc). 
• Builds and maintains relationships with national stakeholders and strategic partners to secure funds. 
• Develops capacity at an appropriate level within or outside the realm of projects. 
• Identifies and participates in own learning opportunities. 
• Ensures compliance with SHE/OHS policies and procedures. 
• Meets peer norm requirements for specific field of expertise with a minimum (on average) of 1 peer reviewed publication per year (for PhD). 
• Presentations (e.g. conference proceedings, keynote speakers, presenters). 
• Standing as a Researcher on national level-Peer Recognition (e.g. scientific awards, prizes, editorial bodies, honorary professorship). 
• Supervise or co-supervise PhD and MSc students with an emphasis on critical and scarce skills. 
 
Requirements: 
• PhD in Plant Pathology-preferable epidemiology/fungal molecular biology and genetics/plant biochemistry or alternatively MSc plus 5 years minimum work experience with extensive publications. 
• Experience in epidemiology, molecular biology and plant biochemistry in grain crops. 
• National scientific recognition will be an added advantage. 
• Registration with a scientific and professional body will be an added advantage.

• Report to the Supply Chain Accountant. 
• Receive goods and Generate goods receipt notes. 
• Issue goods to end-users. 
• Follow up on outstanding deliveries and close purchase orders. 
• Match delivery notes, purchase orders and invoices. 
• Submit documents to Finance.
• Conduct stock take and Issue stock. 
• Ensure monthly reconciliation of stock. 
• Post journals. 
• Oversee disposal of stock and assets. 
 
Requirements: 
• Three year National Diploma in Logistics or equivalent. 
• 2 years relevant experience in supply chain management. 
• Good communication skills (verbal and written). 
• Computer literacy with proficiency in MS Office Suite. 
• Valid driver’s license.
