Teaching in the disciplines of power, electronics, process control and computer systems engineering from diploma to masters level where applicable. 2. Supervision of post-graduate research qualifications up to masters level. 3. Research productivity (such as journal articles, book chapters, patents) in the chosen fields of electrical engineering 4. Serving in various administrative committees in the Department 5. Contributing to curriculum development 6. Contributing to quality assurance programmes such as ECSA 7. Creating and maintaining collaborative relationship with the industry 8. Any other relevant duties and responsibilities as assigned by HOD Technician Key Performance Areas include but not limited to: 1. Conduct laboratory-based teaching and assessments activities for respective modules per assigned laboratory. 2. Assist with the management of the Department's administrative load as assigned. 3. Maintain equipment and supervise use of laboratory equipment by staff and students 4. Provide academic support to learners. 5. Undertake research, consultation and community service projects. Minimum Qualification and Experience: Snr Lecturer & Lecturer 1. Bachelor (BEng/ BTech/ BScEng) and Masters Degrees (MEng/ MTech/ MScEng) in Electrical/Electronics Engineering. And Doctorate for Snr Lecturer 2. Reasonable progress towards attaining a doctoral qualification. 3. Evidence of research productivity in the form of accredited journal articles, peer reviewed conference proceedings, patents etc 4. A minimum of two (2) years (after Masters level) of relevant lecturing experience in the field in an institute of higher education OR five years of professional industrial experience in Electrical/Electronics Engineering 5. Professional registration with Engineering Council of South Africa Evidence of successful teamwork experience Minimum Qualification and Experience: Technician 1. Advanced Diploma/B. Tech in electrical Engineering (Power, Electronics, Process Control or Computer Systems Engineering 2. Evidence of hands-on experience in conducting and facilitating teaching and assessments in laboratory-based learning 3. Evidence of successful curriculum development and academic management. 4. Evidence of ability to work effectively with colleagues and students. 5. Evidence of active participation in professional industry and community engagement activities. 6. Evidence of knowledge and experience of implementing quality assurance requirements. INTERNAL & EXTERNAL DIVISION: ENGINEERING & TECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENT: INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING AND OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT AND MECHANICAL ENGINEERING POST: NGAP LECTURER: MACHINES AND DESIGN POST Nº: 2355 PEROMNES GRADE: 08 JOB DESCRIPTION: The incumbent will be required to: {KPA’S} • Teach and assess Engineering students at Diploma level for the subjects/modules in the area of Machines and Design • Improve on the current content of the teaching material for the subjects/modules in the area of Machines and Design in line with the industry trends. • Influence the development, maintenance, and control in field of specialization • Liaise with Industry including consultation work/collaborative research • Conduct student and academic administration and reporting duties in line with responsibility (Including students’ behaviour, attitude and attendance) • Manage the entire assessment chain for the subject, Machines and Design.
