EXTERNAL VACANCY DIVISION: Faculty of Human Sciences DEPARTMENT: Legal Sciences- Law Clinic POST: Candidate Attorney POST Nº: 2471 PEROMNES GRADE: 10 JOB DESCRIPTION: Key performance areas include but are not limited to: • Assisting the Supervising Attorney with the monitoring of students performing work integrated learning. • Assist with the organising, promoting, and execution of community projects. • Drafting of pleadings, researching the law, advising students and clients on family law and labour law matters. • Attending on matters at court • Supervising students including providing training in office procedures and professional conduct; overseeing client files; advising on legal procedures and practices. • Serving and filing of all legal notices and pleadings. • Update client files. INTERNAL/EXTERNAL VACANCY DIVISION: HUMAN SCIENCES DEPARTMENT: OFFICE OF THE DEAN POST: RESEARCH PROFESSOR POST Nº: 1257 PEROMNES GRADE: 5 JOB DESCRIPTION: Key performance areas include but are not limited to: • Assist Postgraduate students in proposal writing. • Provide research guidance to postgraduate staff and students in obtaining vertical qualification. • Co-ordinate the Post Graduate induction programme and conduct annually 3 postgraduate supervision workshops for staff and postgraduate students in collaboration with the Research Directorate • Arrange and conduct annual strategic faculty research workshops. • Organise and facilitate research colloquiums and serve on institutional research committees. • Target and source research funding opportunities institutionally, regionally, and internationally – includes core funding agency funding; competitive funding; formula-based funding: contract funding and third-stream income. • Generation of state subsidy through the production of recognised research outputs by staff and students • Provide leadership in the development of the faculty’s research focus areas. • Produce relevant accredited research outputs annually. • Present papers at targeted national and international conferences • Maintaining the faculty knowledge management system to support research and development. • Facilitating commercialization of research outputs, in line with the VUT and national imperatives • Education and exposure of staff and students to research related to downstream activities and transfer of knowledge. • Supervising master’s and doctoral students • Engaging in local, national, and international research networks • Training of supervisors; and extended research networks and partnerships across departments and faculties, institutions, industries, and countries (e.g., FRIC, Ethics Committee etc). • Member of Editorial Board APPLICATION CRITERIA: Qualification and Experience: • An appropriate Doctor’s degree in one of the Human Science Fields (Hospitality, Tourism, PR Management, Legal, Education, Visual Arts or Communication) with at least five years of research management experience • Sound research track record including publications in accredited journals and conference papers is a requirement. • Industrial or related experience and/or supervision of postgraduate students • A high level of disciplinary expertise; and Statistical Literacy • Fulfil the VUT requirements of a full professorship • Excellent time management abilities • Up-to-date knowledge of cooking techniques and recipes • Familiarity with sanitation regulations • Culinary school diploma preferred. INTERNAL/EXTERNAL VACANCY DIVISION: HUMAN SCIENCES DEPARTMENT: CENTRE OF SUSTAINABLE LIVELIHOODS (CSL) POST: DIRECTOR POST Nº: 1006 PEROMNES GRADE: 5 JOB DESCRIPTION: Key performance areas include but are not limited to: • Develop niche areas. • Develop the strategic and operational plans of the centre within the vision of the VUT and facilitate its implementation. • Provide academic leadership in research programmes • Liaise with industry, professional bodies, and education institutions nationally and internationally • Develop and promote postgraduate study and supervise post-graduate students • Manage administrative tasks including students’ registration and enrolment • Strengthen and engage new community initiatives in the centre • Compile and manage the budget • Staff and team development • Provide leadership in the development of new curricular and programs • Develop partnerships Internationally and Nationally APPLICATION CRITERIA: Qualification and Experience: • An appropriate Doctor’s degree in Food security and food nutrition with at least six (6) years tertiary teaching or related experience and appropriate Associate Professor. • Minimum of five (5) years academic or related management experience in Higher Education. • A sound research record proven by accredited publications and international conference presentation will be a requirement. • Membership of editorial boards and peer reviewing experience is recommended. • Membership of professional bodies and associations • Experience in post-graduate supervision is required as well as a high level of disciplinary expertise.
