VAAL UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY (VUT) INTERNAL/EXTERNAL VACANCY DIVISION: Faculty of Human Sciences DEPARTMENT: Legal Sciences POST: Lecturer- Law POST Nº: 0095 & 7937 PEROMNES GRADE: 08 JOB DESCRIPTION: Key performance areas include but are not limited to: • Teaching and coordinating subjects as delegated by the head of department. • Providing academic support to learners. • Participating in national and/or international conferences and producing accredited research outputs. • Participating in departmental community engagement flagship projects. • Participating in subject advisory committee meetings. • Liaising with industry and other stakeholders to improve the quality and standard of services delivered and keeping abreast of developments in the legal field. • Compiling and offering relevant short courses. • Developing new Law qualifications. APPLICATION CRITERIA: Qualification and Experience: • A completed LLM Degree. • A minimum of 2 (two) years teaching at tertiary level, or industrial/practise experience. • Admittance as an attorney or advocate will be an added advantage. • Relevant research experience will be an added advantage. • A recognised, appropriate teaching qualification will be an added advantage. Skills and Competencies: • Excellent communication and presentation skills, excellent teaching skills, planning and organising skills, conceptual skills, analytical ability, interpersonal skills and problem-solving skills and computer literacy.
